Subject: 6th ed Blood Angels - rethinking list building

Hi folks.
Had my first game with 6th ed. BA last week and got my @ss handed to me. I'm still building lists with a 5th ed. head on - namely DoA and mech.
Any thoughts on what the 6th ed. competitive BA list philosophies are? I guess stormravens might play a greater role for a start.... ..... ....

Opponent army?
Stormravens are decent in the 6th ed. But I'd just take one. Two are already a big point sink.
Cheap Assault Marine units in Razorbacks are still a viable option. Back them up by Predators and you have a strong ground force.

Thanks - I'm putting a couple of lists together now... see what I come up with.
I like the storm talons, but worried about how easy they'll come down.
I'm not thinking opponent army too much - more of a rounded tournament force. - Saying that I mostly play IG.

In 5th edition I played primarily BA mech lists. I tried twice with 6th edition to make it work but my razorbacks were wrecked (glanced to death) or exploded before they moved. My Vindicators did well now that the entire template is S10 but they were 1 or 2 round hitters before they were also wrecked.
So depending on your meta you may find ways to tweak the list. I've gone a different route with my razorbacks using Tycho w/Sterngaurd, tac marines, Death Company and a DC dread. I've played twice with it and won both matches.
I've also gone a complete jump list with Astorath that did a number on a vanilla Space Marine list this weekend.
Shooty Orks continue to be an issue with me, however. There's just so many shots coming down range and they have so many bodies to wade through...

I think there needs to be some new synergies. The old DoA/jump pack lists simply aren't that good anymore. Same goes for lasback spam. Overall, I'd love to find a good BA list, but I'm fairly convinced they're one of the least competitive armies just now.
I keep thinking of divination libbies with vindicators. One of our guard players has been using his psyker to re-roll artillery strikes and I'm wondering if vindies can't serve the same purpose. If you made one of them an epistolary, you'd be able to walk them behind the vindies and re-roll all three templates.

In my meta I've done well with a good heavy-infantry setup, one stormraven included (to scare opponents ) - typically though, I use jump infantry, reserve one or two units (including dante and a priest with Sanguinary Guard, tool them out with maybe 3 infernus/2infernus+1 plasma) and just wail on them. Obviously the older DoA isn't going to work, quite literally, but you can take advantage of a lot of good things about this edition. I take, typically, at least 2 basic assault squads with an epistolary, and they still do well, but are naturally not the murderous monsters they were on the charge, but I've adapted. Using the powers in the Telepathy or Divination discipline have done well, and as always take those meltas on the assault squads, as that AP1 is even more important now, even with consideration that hull points can potentially balance out that gain of power, depending on how many glances/pens you get.
Anyways, I've found that, with the mention of hull points, stormravens are still obviously vulnerable, but if you spend maximum 230 points, you usually have it still at the end of the game plus a gaggle of other good models just thrashing the enemy. I am yet to be convinced that my predators with las sponsons are as worth it as before, due to HP, but.....I'll see. Either way, I've been able to make quite the stars out of my devastator marines, giving them all missile launchers (for the versatility) and they are awesome.
YMMV.

Points sink implies the unit is not only expensive but won't be likely to be worth those points. This is completely untrue regarding Stormravens particularly in pairs. At 1500pts even it's only 400pts for two Ravens, and they will go unmolested blowing things up in most games, unless your meta is rife with Vendetta and Doom Scythe SPAM.

2 stormravens though is pretty irresponsible spending at 1500 points. Just sayin.

I love the idea of three stormravens carrying the whole army - DC & DC dread in one, and Assault squads, characters, & furiousos in the others. No sure how long they'd last though - especially if you didn't get first turn.
