Did anyone hear that the price of the basic set of Dark Vengeance would be around this price. I almost always wait for the box set on new editions, but somebody said it'd be this much due to a change in how the product was going to be offered. So I went ahead and bought the hard back book. I now wish I waited. Anyone else hear this obviously false rumor over the last few months?

Sorry dude, never heard that one. DV is out on GW's site since Friday. It's price is $108 for the edition with the Chaplain, 99 without. Maybe they were talking about buying from the Aussies/Kiwis and have them ship it to you here in the States.....that'd get you to your $200.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

What difference does the rumur make, when you can go to GW and third party sites, and buy it, for a lot less, baring local currencies etc...

Now if'd you'd posted this 3 months ago, rather than 2 days after they have been up for pre-order, maybe this post would make sense?

He's saying he heard the rumor months ago and that influenced his behavior.

The moral of the story is not to make financial decisions based on internet rumors. Oh and not to start threads based on your financial decisions that were based on internet rumors.

You misunderstand...

When the hardback came out I said I was waiting on the box set. Someone said I might as well buy it since when the box set comes out it'll be 200-300 bucks. I made the mistake of believing that person. However, I wanted to know if that was actually a widespread claim a few months ago.

No, it was not. I do, however, have a really cheap bridge I can sell you in Brooklyn.

No, that was never a widespread rumour.

No it wasn't. Somoene was probably just pulling your leg. It was always thought to be coming in around 100 or 125 (US dollars anyway).

Not widespread at all, someone was just being facetious as always when it comes to the topic of GW and pricing.

Best to take stuff that you read from random internet denizens with a pinch of salt!

I trawl the rumors section daily and have never seen that rumor. Even so, I'm happy with both the big hardcover rulebook and the little softcover one. I like having a coffee table book-sized rulebook with all the nice artwork and stuff.

The sink.

I don't think anyone would buy a starter set at that price. At least I hope they wouldn't.

You can find sites taking pre orders. One site I like is offering 10% off for a pre order and the price comes to:

CA$115.20 (US$ 111.74)

How is it more expensive than retail with a 10% discount? I mean good on them if they sell any but...

You can probably get it at 20% off and ship it up there for cheaper from the US.
