I have had a Red corsairs army for quite a while now and I'm starting to get sick of painting red. As the Red Corsairs are a pirate chapter, I was wondering if I could paint regular marines and add them to my army. Would I need to make any conversions to the minis and would this be acceptable?
That's actually exactly how the Red Corsairs started out. They were made up of renegades and deserters from all different Chapters. It's only comparatively recently that GW have switched to just painting them all red.
My Corsairs are a hodge-podge of different armours and colours with just the shoulder pads painted red, and a few all-red guys scattered through.
Ya go right ahead Mr Awesome1. My Red Corsairs have a rainbow of colours lol. Just put the Red 'X' on their shoulder and you done. New pirates!

Thanks for the advice!
I'm getting the new Dark Vengeance soon and I was thinking of using Dark Angels as renegades but I love Dark Angels too much to dedicate them to Huron. Would it be acceptable if I painted the DA troops with the red X and use them as DA as well as RC or should I use them for one army only?
Yep! Its exactly what I'm doing. I buying 2 kits. the best part is I can use the Chaos TOO.
You could alway magnetize a pad with a RC one and use them for both armies.
Long Live the Blood Reaver!!
