I've focused on building up the inf. stocks (and only 1 chimera so far). The next purchases (after a psyker battle squad (half way through acquiring it) - i've also been learning the painting techniques so they give me a chance to test what i've learned) will be a
LRBT and vendetta; but until that time, i'm a little low on model choices :-)

i only took the vets as it allows the 3 plasma's in chimera + extra
BS level. Do you think that i should replace them with a
PCS?

How about this alternate list:
HQ: primaris psyker (codex powers – attached to an inf. squad) = 70
Platoon (troops choice):
-
PCS w missile launcher = 45
-inf. + a/c + g/l = 65
-inf. + a/c + g/l = 65
Platoon
-
PCS + 3 plasma + standard chimera = 130
-inf.+ missile launcher = 65
-inf + a/c (standard => use as bodyguard for primaris psyker) = 60
Note: no designated reserves
Honestly, at such a low points level, you want to consolidate your firepower and max the number of hits you can bring. That means high
BS and loads of special weapons.
I'd say...hmm.
(Now this is out of order, because I'm writing it on the spot, and some parts are more important than others, thus get written in first.)
Veterans-100
-3x Melta
-Shotguns
Chimera-55
-Multilaser/Hull Flamer (or bolter, up to you)
CCS-85pts
-Powerfist (Because every Company Commander should be able to fist someone to death in a challenge.)
-Quad-flamer (Weird right? Thing is, at these low point levels,
VP's are hard to come by, so your warlord takes charges frequently in an effort to get the "Slay the warlord"
VP. And even a new guard player should have like 100 flamer bits lying around.) This will help with that overwatches.
Veterans-210
-3xPlasma
-Heavy Bolter
-Forward Sentries
-Gunnery Sergeant Harker
(Yo dawg, I heard you like 3 Plasma guns, 2 Heavy Bolters a 2+ cover save, and defensive grenades. Best part? They infiltrate.)
Sentinel
-Autocannon
(Outflank it and have it pop a transport. Or just look cool.)
Honestly, tank-free, this is probably the best 500pt list you could ever run as guard.
It's wicked good; I just came up with it, and I'll probably run it when I feel like leaving the tanks at home. That infiltrating squad is dirty; not many squads get 2 heavy weapons, 3 special weapons, and a Terminator-equivalent cover save.
And with everything at BS4, you'll be getting a lot of hits per turn. Don't want misses at 500pts, every shot counts.
Sure, it's low on scoring units, but at 500pts, you'll be able to confidently wipe out whatever troops your opponent is struggling to afford. We have super cheap, awesome troops; yay
