I'm currently browsing dakka on my iPad, which has worked fine in the past; however, the addition of this new banner seems to be causing issues when it appears on some pages.

When I click on "view latest" on any of the threads in News (no tried elsewhere yet) it starts to load the correct page, but then redirects to http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/promo.jsp# instead. This gives me a blank page with the dakka background and a broken promo banner at the top instead of the page I was looking for.

I'm also occasionally seeing the issue with other links in the site, such as the edit and submit buttons on this here post

Yeah. As the other two accidental threads can attest.. There's something screwey going on with the banner hijacking page loads on iPads.

I've checked in Firefox on my mac and it seems to be working fine there

Once you tell the banner to go away, the issue vanishes... So it seems likely that it could be with the code that is checking wether it should show the banner?

Ok. Switching on the iOS debug console generates 5 warnings/errors... All to do with the facebook integration in the new promo area. Due to my wife having stolen my laptop, I can't really go any further with the debugging from here.

I am having the exact same problem with my Ipad and Iphone while browsing dakka. Everytime i search for a thread and click on it I get redirected to that stupid banner ad. What is worse is that I am unable to click out of it. For whatever reason the ad won't let me close it and return to the page I was on.

Also, whenever I click on the Full details link in the banner (using a laptop and IE9, tried Firefox with the same result.) it loads the page in the banner, meaning I can't see all the deatails.

I was able to work around it by minimizing the banner when I first land on Dakka.

I've added a link you can click on ipad/iphone if the promo blocks you. It is an annoying apple glitch from their non standard way of doing things to try and make the touchscreen work better with internal frames.

Yuck. Will things go back to normal after the contest is ended? I live on Dakka on my Iphone when I'm at work (I have a job that typically lets me sit on my keister and surf the net as long as I want) and this started driving me batty yesterday.

Once you've told the banner area to go away, you shouldn't see any more problems with the redirects. To tell it to not show again, there's a red link in the bottom right corner of the banner area that hides it.

iphone also has a link to make it go away forever it loads fullscreen now as well. So long as you dont clear your cookies, it will stay vanished.

Thanks. I'm not sure what else you've done, but it's behaving a bit more today. I've not tried posting anything, but at least browsing isn't quite so problematic
