I have been reading all of the “Power Axe vs. Power Sword” discussions and had a talk with some of our group and it drifted in this direction. When you hear about an “Army” what is the first “Power Weapon” that come to mind. I wanted you opinion on this. I do not want this to be a discussion on what it is better, but what is Fluffy in your “Minds Eye”.

Here is my list:

Black Templars: Power Sword & Power Axe
Blood Angels: Power Sword & Power Fist
Crimson Fist: Power Fist & Power Sword
Dark Angels: Power Sword & Power Fist
Imperial Fist: Power Fist & Power Sword
Raven Guard: Lighting Claws & Power Sword
Salamanders: Power Spear/Lance & Thunder Hammer
Space Wolves: Power/Frost Axe & Power/Frost Blade
Ultramarines: Power Sword & Power Fist
White Scars: Power Spear/Lance & Power Sword

Imperial Guard: Power Sword & Power Maul

BT should always take axs , they dont have sgts and fists get 1A, so the only way for them to get a good ap2 weapon is to take an ax. All other armies it depands on the unit used .Knights used a lot of mauls and axs so it fluffy for them to use it too.

Fists are 5 points more expensive than axes. If fists were 25 points it'd be a nobrainer, as it is now I'd rather have the fist to threaten vehicles, especially seeing as Templars don't get Kraks standard.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I have two armies built with the IG codex, along with a slaanesh marine list.

My Arbites exclusively use power mauls.
My khornate renegade guard use axes primarily, with a smattering of fists and mauls to crack the high toughness nuts.

My chaos marines use primarily swords, lightning claws, and now mauls for anti tank (other than land raiders of course)

My Iron knights are mostly dominated with power swords, because it's kinda fluffy, them being knights and all. but besides that my stern guard sergeant has a power ax, although he has never killed anyone with it. most of the glory goes to my cato Sicarius clone in that squad.

413th Lucius Exterminaton Legion- 4,000pts

Atalurnos Fleetbreaker's Akhelian Corps- 2500pts

What's a power weapon?

Sorry that was my Tau side coming out.

My Space Wolves make me think fondly of Frost weapons and Wolf Claws.

Tau and Space Wolves since 5th Edition.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Eldar. In order of what I associate most: swords, big stonking huge fists of doom, spears, big stonking huge swords of doom (preferably wailing doom), glaive, rapiers, and double versions of everything above. And portable open holes into random places in the warp (D-swords!)

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Black Templars= Power sword or axe (medieval European in style).
Imperial Guard= Power Sword (a sabre or other similar sword from the Georgian/ Napoleonic eras).
Orks= Power Klaws of course.
Sororitas= Power Mauls or Power swords (very ornate and finely crafted to reflect their backing by Ecclesiastical wealth).
