So I want a close combat orientated blood angel force with some 'scary' elite units that choppa most things up without too much difficulty (DC, A-Termies, Furioso etc.) - balanced with a few versatile and useful scoring units, and some decent anti-tank + anti air.
At the moment the problems I'm finding are:
My jump assault squads are either too over-priced with 10man sqds, meltas & PF, or too easy a KP with 5men - and they die too easy to template/blasts
Non jump assault squads get shot up when they disembark because they can't assault out of rhinos/razorback/drop pods
Storm Ravens have to hover to be used as an assault vehicle - thus same problem as rhinos etc.
Its hard to field ravens as they usually put half my force in reserve so there isn't any target saturation before they come on... thus I get tabled on turn 2!
I haven't got the points to spam landraiders under 2500 (I'm trying to build a tourny list thus 1750)
I haven't got the points to take multiples of most units and still take useful units
Because of all this I have very few units left after turn 4 to make any late game difference
All-in-all, I can build very competitive 5th edition BA lists but not 6th.
Any thoughts? (list building or tactics - I'm a new BA player.... used to orks... used to fielding armies that scare the poo outa people) Automatically Appended Next Post: ... ... hmmm .. anyone?

I have the same problems you've described. Sadly, my only solution so far has been to play my Necrons....
Seriously though, I've played quite a few games to try out various new strategies in 6th, and I haven't been able to find anything that completely satisfies me yet. My favorite list so far uses 2 Vindicators, a Stormraven with ATerms in it, and a drop pod of Sternguard. It's not a bad list, but unfortunately it relies on the Vindicators which are too easy to take out.
That said, I've won plenty of games with it....but I doubt it's the most competitive BA list out there.

Thanks for your thoughts - glad to see I'm not alone.
I'm assessing the merits of running a list with 6 10man squads of assault marries with meltas & meltabombs supported by a stormraven, librarians, S-Priests etc. then a couple of predators. really not sure though

I've been using a bare librarian with my sternguard to give them re-rolls on hits...nice if you want to run a minimal HQ. I haven't been crazy about Predators in the new edition....at least in my local meta, a lot less people are running light or medium vehicles, which makes the Predators non-twinlinked guns less useful.
I see a lot more infantry, as well as fliers, and the occasional heavy something or other. Which is why I switched to Vindicators and the usual Melta on ASM.
YMMV.

What about fielding a few baal preds with the assault cannons on them. You have armor 13, and with your vehicles being fast you can move 12 inches and unload with your 24 inch, twin-linked, str6, rending guns. Try some variety with your assault marines. On another thread, the discussion is how to use assault marines. They are bullies you don't want to take on a full squad of anything. They are your clean up crew. Maybe drop pod a dreadnuaght or two right in the front of your opponent so for hopefully a turn or two he has to deal with them instead of the rest of your army moving forward. I don't know what weapon options are available for your dreads, but if you can throw some melta or multi melta guns on them and have them pop something that needs to be popped. If they survive the next enemies turn, great now assault something with them. But that will hopefully weaken up your opponent or at least distract him for a turn or two.
