Hey guys, its been awhile but I'm slowly collecting my nomads but I've ran into a problem. I had hoped that the new town I moved to would have a Infinty group since it was a college town but no, they had 3 people playing but they moved on because without terrain you can't really play the game well. They have about 3 large tables for about 6 games on each. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a league or something going when the new book hits but I think the biggest problem is terrain. Since I'm a college kid I can't really afford to just go out and buy tons of terrain.

The store has terrain but its all suited for GW/PP/Malifaux but could it be used with Infinity if I just add more than what they would normally use?

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Sure, any suitably LOS blocking terrain would make an Infinity board. Hell, if the FLGS has some left over cardboard boxes from shipments, cut them up, get some gaffer tape and stick them together again as little buildings, walls etc

Hell, you could have a speed terrain building contest for your first league meet if you managed to scrap together enough cardboard (supermarkets usually give away big cardboard crates that you get fruit in), tape etc and asked people to bring their own hobby knives etc. The person who builds the most, best terrain wins a cardboard medal on a shoe string and "5 league points" or something equally fun

I was the only player in my area who played.
I showed the rulebook around, showed off the minis and then one by one, I had others flocking to me. No hard sell, no pushing.

I converted another local guy to it. He had a promotions business and a gaming store model that worked (portable kiosk because bricks and mortar niche market stores here are just not long-term viable and are short term expensive). HE started selling the stuff and soon there were 30-40 'local' players in need of a venue - so he started that too.
The game attracted the veterans - most of whom already had terrain or could make it. So that wasn't an issue.

Now I have a large group of people to play against. It is not a university "town" (in that it HAS a university, but it's not the only reason people live here. It used to be heavy industry) in the same sense, but it has enough gamers that GW decided to open a store 18 years ago and they haven't closed it yet.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Use paper terrain. This guy has a ton of it for free:

There are lots of other sites that do sci-fi paper terrain as well. It takes a little work, but it's probably the cheapest way to do Infinity terrain that's fast, cheap, but still looks cool.

Check the arcologies section of the official Infinity website for people making terrain out of everyday junk.

I second the paper terrain. One very useful suggestion for your paper terrain is to buy some cheap ballast (fish tank style small rocks, and such) or cheap metal washers depending on the terrain. Just something to make the terrain heavy enough that it won't just blow around.

And wall mazes like this http://www.infinitythegame.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=12727&pid=235824#pid235824 are something you can build out of paper. They get the job done, they're interesting to play on, and people fight inside buildings, too, you know.

I just put up a thread on making good and cheap buildings if that helps.
