So i Am creating some Salamander Successor Chapters for some interesting personal fluff, but I need some good chapter names for them. I am looking for reptile related names or similar names that would seem like they were related to the salamanders, any input is appreciated thanks

Ash Drakes. No idea if it fits your fluff or not, I just thought it sounded cool.

This is a very Rough Outline I'll flush it out more as I get more Names, and read more into the 40K background.

Outline

Receives message from astropath to the onoard Astropath

It’s a coordinate, it’s a planet

They go to planet

15 Other chapters are there, the salamanders included

Find out a Temple (temple of Fire) was found on this planet and all of the chapters received the same message

Thunder hawks line the walkway to the temple; this is known as the walk of fire

All chapter bear resemblance to the salamanders(doctrine, and some similar organization), silently told to each other in the shadows, salamanders will not acknowledge such rumors

About 100 Techmarines go in and out of the temple of fire everyday, Strange artifacts are removed from the temple in cermite containers.

Large fortifications are set up around the temple, due to the high amount of energy it Is producing, the signatures have not been seen by the chapters excluding the salamanders

Attacked by chaos, several war bands attack form orbit including Dragon Warriors, Red Corsairs, and supplements from the Thousand sons, the Word Bearers and the Emperors Children.

They win but lose several thunder hawks while fighting chaos ground forces, the ships in orbit have to pull out due to heavy damage

The ground forces are left alone, they must hold against chaos, chaos attacks include legions of chaos guard, orbital bombardments, and various from of phycic magics, a shield that was activated in the temple protects them form the orbital bombs, but the ground forces can fight thru the shield

The forces must hold out until a counter attack can be launched from the chapter fleets.

I know this is rough but I think with a little work this can become a Fantastic story and have ample army decisions for my table top army's, Thanks!

I have one name for sure warp serpents, the first chapter besides the salamanders that arrived, there armoured will be a light blue and red swirl patter with silver and black shoulder pads, then the last chapter will be the ... Well I don't know yet

River of Fire: red over blue theme.
Infernals: radioactive green over black theme.
Pyrohymia:flame+blood theme.

On the other hand, since there are no "knows" successors in the established fluff then the name of one, should there actually be a successor ought to be far from similar. Otherwise imperial scholars would have picked up the hint a long time ago, made an investigation and there would actually be known successors.

The closest to possible successors that are hinted in the fluff are the Black Dragons and Storm Giants (IA aticle) but it is only an assumption with no proof of this exists.

The Blood Ravens' origin is still unknown as well, innit?

I can't really come up with a good enough name. But since Vulcan is also the name of a Roman god depicted as a blacksmith you could come up with a name based on him. His sons are Philammon, Cecrops, Erichthonius, Corynetes, Cercycon, Philottus and Spinther. You could come up with a name like that. Maybe Anvil of Spinther? It's a bad name, but you could base your chapter name on that.

If so then it would have been mentioned in the fluff somewhere as it is for other "suspicious" chapters. As it is now, there is absolutely no mentioning about any Inquisitional coverup secret war against the Salamanders.

Blood Ravens is just that, a chapter with unknown origins (Salamanders are not, they have a perfect "pedigree" and flawless origins)
and on top of that the BR do have an unusual amount of psychers, hence any eventual Inquisitorial attention. The Salamanders dont.

I´m not saying there are no Sal successors, I´m saying there are no known what so ever and the best imperial scholars and the inquisition have done while researching this is to assume that maybe the Storm Giants and Black Dragons just might be made with Sal geneseed.

Ergo: it is a logical improbability that the imperium is sprinkled with Sal successor chapters that bear overly obvious Sal-linked names such as Sons of Vulkan etc etc.
