Hey guys and gals.
All I've got to say is I hate that bloody awful Doomsday cannon of the necrons!!! That thing is well overpowered. Though I've found that the Necrons are overpowered against da boyz in general.
Anyone got any tatics for dealing with it?
Also thinking about Expanding my boyz.
Thinking of more deffkoptas or maybe even some killa kans. Thoughts on this?

So you think you're tough, eh?
Just wait till I attack you with my radio-active Carrot!

It's not really overpowered. It's very expensive for what it does. Be more afraid of Annihilation Barges!

Now, it's AV13 until you pen it (unless you get a rear armor shot, then it's just AV10).

Also, it's a skimmer, so it can get that 5+ jink, but only if it moves. However, if it moves, it gets a much crummier shot that turn.

You could eat it alive with Lootas.

You could smack it with a Power Klaw (Nob glances on a 1, pens on a 2+ and a Warboss auto-pens).

You could get some Warbikes and shoot it from the rear.

Kanz or Dreads could do it.

If he parks it in the back, you could outflank some deffkoptas and when they come in (you'll have a 30" threat range between the 12" move and the 18" rokkit, though big shootas are cheaper and could do it as well).

I also recommend a KFF to help you out.

Lootas.

3 units of 5 will average 2 glances a turn. 3 units of 10 will kill it in one round from glances alone.

This is the answer. Necrons might seem somewhat stacked against Orks, but the Doomsday Ark is honestly the least of your worries. That AP2 blast is totally wasted on a bunch of 6 point Ork boyz. Also, if you can assault just about any Necron unit, they crumple like the tin cans they are.

The doomsday cannon is for killing heavy infantry. Not orks. Your lootas would decimate one. You have basically the perfect situation for not-caring-about-doomsday-arks. Could you explain your problem more?

Ap 1 when stationary, AP 4 when moving.

Noted; all I remember is that I didn't want my Terminators getting shot by it. Regardless, the AP of the weapon doesn't matter when shooting at your average squad of Ork boyz.

My big problem is that I don't have enough variety of Orks to be quite honest. I just started collecting them but lootas are defo gonna be on my next order come payday.

The big problem with this cannon is when it is stationary it has the AP1 and uses the large blast marker. Straight off the boat it means he parks it up the back and I have to use the cover and try and charge him as fast as possible. This means a well placed marker can take out an entire squad. Once had it happen he took out 28 out of 30 boyz (I somehow managed to keep them from breaking though)
So I try and use my koptas to deal with it to no avail. But I'm defo gonna get those lootas

The only way he could have taken out 28/30 boyz is if your boyz were all bunched up.

And here we have the first lessen in unit coherency. maintain maximum coherency with squishy models like Boyz to avoid this exact situation.

28/30 boyz? You know you can place your models up to 2" apart right? With good spacing, he is going to hit 4 or 5. With decent spacing he might hit 7 or 8. Take more boyz, take a Kustom Force Field, take some long range shooting to deal with it starting turn 1.

But when it comes to tanks it just got a whole lot better than in 5th, full strength with whole template and +2 on damage chart.

I'll take this advice to mind. If I remember correctly though I did have a good reason for bunching them up though. Though for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

And +3 when hitting most Ork vehicles since they tend to be open topped. But I'm not talking about vehicles, I'm talking about 6 point slugga/shoota boyz.

The Doomsday Ark is the worst of the Necron heavy vehicles; you should count yourself lucky that you aren't facing Annihilation Barges or Doomscythes instead.

Actually, its not that bad. I've tested it out in a few games and it seems to be decent.
The only real problem with it is that its a finesse weapon; you have to deploy at the right spot and have it pick the right targets.
Once you do that it's really good at doing what it does best.

^Agreed 100%. It works even better alongside Lanceteks with Pulses. Pretty much how my 1 Doomsday Ark won a shooting match against 2-3 squads of broadsides, and then some.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
