We're on a few other forums and thought it'd be nice to post here as well, considering that people all over the globe visit.

We have had male and female rats in the past, and are now finally looking to get a pair. After all, the best companion for a rat is another rat. The plan is to have them both be the same sex, however we are unsure which sex. We will not be "fixing" rats, so male + female is out of the question for now.

2 boys or 2 girls? What have you had experience with, rat owners?

Thanks for your input.

Sugar gliders have the greatest ratio of cuteness to evil of just about all creatures on the planet. I'd stick with the rats. I've no real male v female experience to give an opinion on that matter though.

Two females would be best. It all depends on the rats themselves. I used to work at a pet store and it will usually be one trouble making rat, male or female. I just feel like the females don't smell as much and leave less pee as they move around.

So in other words male rats are like teenage boys...

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I had two females once and they hated each other. They had to be kept separate all the time.

I also had two males once and they were best buds, to the point that when one died (of old age, he was 3) the other refused to leave his corpse.
