So I'm thinking of starting off an empire army, just to do something diffierent from,y ogres. Currently I have a battle wizard kit, wich I won from as a legue prize. I've borrowed the army book from a friend, but really have no idea and no models to speak of, so I'm wondering on what's a good theme, and good way to go? I like the idea of a gun line, as it's so opposite my melee theme ogres. Any thoughts and ideason what to get would be awesome.

Gunline empire can be pretty good...

It can be good, but in casual play it is not very fun for your opponent. If you want to go all fluffy and field a Nuln specific army that might help. I am a big proponent of themed empire lists. I play a Middenheim army list that revolves around great swords, knights of the white wolf, and no black powder weapons at all and it does fairly well every game!

Similar to Furbyballer, I run a middenland list. Boris Todbringer, Knights of the White Wolf, Thundercav with those knights counts-as demigryph, I do have one unit of handgunners and some warmachines but they are painted Nuln, so really, I second the themed list idea.

well, i was actually thinking of doing a roman legion theme. have everything painted and conveted up simaler to the legion in the start of gladiator. (so LOTS of fire!) of course i would add a respectable amount of varaity, but i want a nice solid gunline for the core. maybe a bunch of archers as a "counts as" hand gunners.

ive also started working on my wizard lord... but there seems to be a TON of options for him. i suppose ill start on the characters first... since most games i play are in the 2000-2500 mark, i think a pair of lords and a bunch of captains would work pretty well. but what to give the wizard lord?

Really can't go wrong with a wizard, either as a lord or hero, empire characters are so cheap take one. That really fulfills the requirement Lord/Hero after that it is up to you, if you want a gunline I would go with a master engineer to go with a helblaster volley gun. A 2nd wizard is cool too to back up your melee blocks it's nice to have a pair of light and beasts wizards. Warrior priest are nice if you take combat blocks for hatred and prayers. You'll want some chaff/redirectors pistoleers and archers are nice for this. Empire is really flexible and fun, decide what you want and like the looks of for example gunline, cavalry, blocks of infantry and so on and let us know we can help you along.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

So I'm thinking about a life or heavens wizard lord, backed up by a duo of lvl 2 fire wizards, and a lvl 2 beasts. I dont think these guys need much in the way of magic items, aside from a few minor items. Ideally they will be occupying the backfield and out of direct fighty range. Might consider swapping the wizard lord out for a general, or even the emprah on his dragon. I couldn't find a model for the imperial dragon, except for maybe converting the black dragon over, but how well does the emprah and dragon work? It's a super expensive unit both $$ and pts wise. Failing that maybe a general? I also want to take as many captains as possible for the troops. (I'm thinking at least 3 separate regiments/detachments)
