OK... these have actually been done for a week or so but I didn't have any dull coat so I couldn't get any pics taken until I got some more. This was an experiment in mixing two techniques to see how it would turn out and I think I like it. I started off with the airbrush doing a three color zenetial highlight for the flesh work. It was Black then medium grey and finally light grey from top down. After that I painted in all the details and then brushed on Strong Tone quick shade. I use the minwax equivalent instead of army painters. All in all I think I am happy enough with the way they came out.
A quick not on the swords... They were also an attempt at trying something new. I had already done the gradient as seen on them. I wanted to give them a bit more spice so I tried again to use Vallejo crackle medium. It is supposed to make a cracked pattern when you paint it on which you can then go back and run a wash over to make the cracks pop. Needless to say it did not work at all. I need to figure out what I am doing wrong with that stuff.
For anyone wondering why they are not red... they are set to go with my Bloodthirster I posted up a few years ago.
