As the title says this is my 1st necron model I have ever owned or painted.
I am in the process of painting a 2000 point army following this theme.
My brother hates the red but I like it and wanted something other than green.
The photo quality and lighting are horrible and obviously I have to do his base still.
Other than that there are just a few small touch ups i need to make.
Please comment and let me know what you think and if you have any advice for me!

I like the red as I too dislike the the standard green. Also no bad for a first figure. I think though that you may have been a little heavy handed with the source lighting glow. I can't get a real feel for the pant scheme. I am guessing it is white with red for illumination and silver underneath (as evidenced by what looks to be battle damage).

Thanks, I thought the source lighting was a bit much, i might have to dumb it down a bit. he was painted black, stipples with orange, hairsprayed and srayed white then scratched some white off for the damage. there is also various inks and metallics used. I shall get some better pictures once he is based and touched up.
Automatically Appended Next Post: actually just looking at the model now the source lighting is fine. I dont know why it came out soo solid and orange in this picture. the lighting is really bad and it has messed with my source lighting and the metal parts like his cape sorta thing whatever you call it

A hint for the lighting when taking the pictures. Try turning off the flash on the camera or place an opaque white grocery bag over the flash as a make shift diffuser. that way the direct flash doesn't drown out minute color differences.

I think it looks great. The paint job does a good job of making it look ancient.
The osl is pretty convincing.
Id love to see a better picture.

I like it! The osl is decent and the colour scheme is unique from the other Necron armies I've seen. It also gives me the impression that the Necrons are "alive" and not just a sea of mindless metal automatons.
If I were to paint a Necron army I would take a similar direction to yours, but I would still like to give some indication that they are metal warriors. Perhaps some silver highlights as battle damage where the white paint has been scraped away. I like the effect of what seems to be dirt, rust and mud, but it would also be nice to see a bit of clean "fresh" battle damage as it were. If I was being really fancy, I would attempt to undercoat the figures with a metallic spray so it would show up underneath the white. I don't even know if that would work though!
Keep up the good work, the finished army will look great!

Very nice sheme and I like the weathering. But the osl needs some lightening up imho, maybe put a few yellow layers on the edges?

Really like the paintscheme. Although idk about the orange. The OSL is a bit off but not bad. Weathering makes it come to life. Overall good job

Wow, that is pretty darn good for your first Necron!

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

thanks guys, i definately need to get a better picture as the lighting was horrible and has messed up my metallics and osl. as for the damage i imaging it could be old battle damage, or more likely damage from metal parts grinding against each other mixed with just natural damage from laying out in the desert and corroding a bit and its like they have just come back up or something.
I will get up a better picture soon i promise!
