So I started playing around 3 weeks ago using a borrowed army then started buying two weeks ago and started to recieve build strip and basecoat last week, this is my collection so far....

I am waiting on 2 full 10 man devastator squads, 2 assault marine squads 3 drop pods (always stay on even number!) 10 scout snipers and a few more marines (heck they seemed cheap!) and finally few more turrets and a vindicator and whirlwind conversion kits.

So I relised this morning when reading the dakka post about collecting a whole chapter, I have done a company and a bit inside 2 weeks!, oops. I havent added everything up, dont think I want to really!.

Anyone else had a spending spree like this?, I still have more things to add like Sternguard, attack bikes, and van guard aegis defence line and a host of FW goodies! (hello Storm Eagle...)

Ebay armies can net things like this from time to time for me. I have snipped some nice auctions here and there. My current DE army started with about 120 models + vehicles from an ebay auction and grew from there.

I did something similar with de not long ago but I need to find cheap venoms

For the 4 I have if you bit order the venom hull and do some converting/using bits you can make them look pretty much solid. I converted extra warriors on them and painted the canopy solid, looks pretty legit.

Go to http://www.hoardobits.com or something similar and look up 'venom hull' If you have extra guns and the like it should be easy to jazz them up.

I don't known if you are US based, but I have gotten incredible deals off Craigslist. Im talking 60% off msrp on the sprues and unprimed. $20 for 3 Warriors ($50 gw), etc. Check local listings, etc. I've gotten most of my forces for crazy prices that way.

When the 'Nid codex was released for the 3rd edition they sold a limited Megaforce at the same time. Dropped £160 on it and sadly I've still got some of the warriors to paint now!!!

Thats my 'situation' now, having to paint everything, dont even own ANY painting gear at the moment!

I accidentally bought a full Sorylian fleet for Firestorm Armada, having assembled and painted a couple, never touched it again.


Went into my FLGS for a single pot of paint.

Left with 6 boxes of beastmen Gors.

And no paint.

I spent probably around $550 in a month to collect most of the Valhallans I have. I've been painting them since April, and have a really good sized army that you can check out in the link in my sig.

Im always on a spending spree.

I just bought a HUGE Vampire Counts Army off of Craigslist. Was at $400 and sat for a long time, then they lowered it to $250 and it didnt sell, so they listed again at $250....I ended up buying it for $150.00....included a mortis engine, 6 vargheists, black coach, new grave guard, terrorgheist, 60 ghouls, skeletons, like 40 hounds, bunch of characters, 3 spirit hosts, a varghulf, at least a wraith, have to look but I thought I saw a banshee too, the newest book etc....was a great deal, only down side IF you can call it a downside was all the ghouls were Mantic ghouls....I like them better, but it makes it not completely GW....

No thanks. I think I actually had a life back then (I no longer play 40k and the SM company sits in my cupboard of shame, ignored and unmourned).

All too often. I regularly through the years have bought an entire 3000k sized force all at once. With the new CSM release I bought one of the startup collections from GW and then ordered duplicates of some things from The Warstore. Just what I don't need: More chaos minis. Hahahahahaha. Lately on the chaos front I have just been adding Forge World models to my armies to make them more unique. Definitely worth the expense as long as you have everything else you need for your army.

I have been surprisingly controlled in buying minis for my Dark Eldar and ork armies. I have been buying them up in much smaller bits. Very odd for me indeed.

If you've got the cash and the ability it is easy to buy way too many minis at once, but then figure you've got projects to keep you busy for some time to come.

I bought for years and had such a massive modeling backlog. Then I got a serious illness and during the months of recovery I pretty much cleaned out my backlog completely. Never thought that would happen. Now I seem to be almost back to the same depth in the backlog hole. Oops!

I'm going to give you some PRICELESS advise... Since your spending so much money, do yourself a favor and get yourself some colored primer the right color. they have it at Armypainter for 17 bucks for a spray can, it will save you alot of time.

I currently have abotu 7,000 points of iron Warriors. My wife keeps tellgin me to add up hw much i've spent in total....but i'm scared.

You've gotta paint your stuff! I know if I had that much stuff lying around I'd be too intimidated to paint any of it.

When I started playing, I won some nice starter Necron and Chaos Armies. I slowly built up the two and traded my Necrons for some Blood Angels. I then built up the BA.

I then found some great deals on Space Wolves and Grey Knights.

I went from nothing to almost 5k points in CSM, 7k in BA, 2.8k in SW, and I have no idea how many in GK.

I've sold off a lot of my BA stuff, I'm currently selling off my SW stuff, and I'm sticking with GK and CSM.

Sadly, I spent WAY too much money...even if I did find great deals when I did it. I've recouped a few hundred now and will continue to sell stuff off. If things work out how I want, I should be able to net a few hundred more.

I dont really want to add up what I have spent!, all I am buying now is little bits, so I can have every option there is, at least now I shouldnt have to buy any units (except sternguard, tech priest with thunderfire and aegis)

Had a tourny last week and had 1850 points of painted models, have another tourny on the 20/21st so again need to have 1850 painted, I had that last night looking at everything half done and not knowing where to start thats why I laid everything out to figure out what I need and what I have plently of, think I may need 2 more ML's and HB and a few lascannons and have on order some melta guns
