I've been trying to build a small but distinct Chaos warband for low points games, and wanted to have a bike squad. I took bits from the Chaos Knights kit and combined them with some other bits I had floating around, and created a demonic steed biker. I figure the Warp changes everything in it, so why wouldn't you get some faster horses? Would you find this an acceptible model to play against, or does it go too far and veer into stupidity?

Well, it's not like there exists any Chaos Space Marine Daemonhorse Cavalry units (nor are there rumours pertaining to such), so I wouldn't have a problem with it. So long you mention they're bikers, and they're given the correct wargear for such that'd be cool.

In fact, I would just say yes cause I love the Chaos Knights kit and their horses. They just scream badass, and the conversion is a good job as well. If your greenstuffing skills are up to it, maybe you can sculpt a trail of flames coming from the ground to exemplify their speed?

Hadn't thought about green stuffing some special effects in there. I'm just getting back into the hobby after being away for years. Last I heard, Green Stuff wasn't being sold in the States after some controversy about what was in it, but there's bound to be some other, comparable stuff out there.

You have heard wrong.

GS is a 30+ year old plumbing putty - nothing that is controversial at all in it. You can get it from nearly any hobby supplier or direct from the manufacturer:

I'll be. A buddy of mine worked at a Games Workshop store years ago, and they coulddn't get GS because of possible negative health effects. The issue must have just come and gone fairly quickly.

More likely that was the line which the store he was at was preaching. I have never had a problem getting it anywhere I have lived in the past 20 some odd years.

The finished squad.

I also played around with the Hellbrute a bit. For a half-naked Dreadnought, (Skanknought?) it looks very feral, so I put a driver on top, forcing it forward with an electrified prod. It even looks like it's furiously trying to swat the marine on its back. Once this is painted up, I'm going to use a bit of costume jewelry chain to make out some wrapped up kind of leash, which should make the driver's lean look more realistic and dramatic.

I'm going to say yes, but not in a bad way. It's ridiculous, but this is 40k, soooo....

I really like that first model, the pose is superb. What's that metal arm from?

I'm not keen on the guy surfing the dread, but that chaos knight head with the eyeholes looks amazing on that mini. Might have to try that myself.

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

I think they look great. If the guard can use rough riders these should fit in fine.

The arm is from the old Iron Warriors Lord, who, while coming with said awesome gun and a great servo arm, looks virtually two-dimensional. Harvested him for parts.

Just a heads up about the knight-head-Dread - it will take some shaping (carving) to get it to fit right. You'll need to glue it over the face of the Hellbrute so it won't float, or just Green Stuff something. I found the mangled face makes a good neck for the head. You won't see those details, just some warped flesh connected to the new head.

Love the biker idea mate - I'm going to copy that, I like biker rules but don't like the concept of bikes. Demonic cavalry? Count me in! I've been working on some conversions too. Dark Elf Cold One / Cadian Renegade Guard Rough Riders for example look pretty good. Also have a Dark Elf dragon that I was going to try to chaosify when my chaos order arrives, for a counts as demon prince or something.

Nice work, and you make me want steed bikers now

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

I've had about ten people from a number of forums tell me they want to try the steed bikers idea. This keeps spreading, maybe Games Workshop will give us some actual CSM demonic cavalry.

the idea older than you think, i think the earliest photo of a chaos marine steed was done a couple years ago.

I'm not claiming the idea is original, just saying that I like that it's a widespread idea.
