So I've been working with the blank Space Marine image to color in and see which might be a neat idea for a new set I've been putting off for months.

Let me know which one you like so I can get a better idea of what direction I should go in.

Here's my first attempt at it. Even I'll admit looking back this isn't exactly what I wanted. >_<

This second one is a better, but I don't know if it's 'too blue'.

Subdued more and a little reserved from the second one.

A slightly darker shade from the 3rd one.

This is a radical idea that I'm not sure if I can make work in painting.

This one is a complete departure from the rest, but I just loved the contrast of the colors and how uncommon it is to see a marine in this color.

Well let me know which one you like, 1-6. C&C welcome, thanks for your time!

You have a chapter in mind? It sounds like you are looking at a basic space wolves theme (at least 4 is very close to that IMHO). Light blue-ish grey has been their hallmark color for years.

I like the glowing one for a legion of the damned paint scheme. leaking an eldrich glow from between armor plates.

I'd vote for 6, because as you said, it's a unique pattern you don't see. One gets tired of tables of red/blue/grey/silver marines all the time.

For gaming purposes the second one would look best. It will also take the most time. This time can be cut by using zenethal techniques. I have heard of people priming white over the very top of the model (on top of black primer) to achieve this effect much quicker (and assuming you thin your paints, this would work nicely)

The glowy one can possibly be done with OSL techniques though it might look odd on the table.

I'm assuming ultramarines here? You

Well I'm not really taken to any chapter at the moment. I've got about 1500 pts worth of Space Wolves at the moment.

And part of the draw to this was to look at making a Space Marine force that I may be able to adapt to a few books/chapters without holding to any particular lineage and shoe-horn myself into the same game style every match.

I went with Blue as a base color, because I simply like the color.

@Nevelon: I also like the 6th one, I like the 5th one too, just not sure if it would look good when painted, or if it would just look silly when not in the right context.

Thank you for the replies.

Yeah, I'd say the 6th or the 4th. However, if you like blue and the 6th, why not experiment with a combination of the two colours... Brown with blue highlights, or arms/legs/shoulders, or the effect from the 5th, or even experiment with half and half or quartered... If you get the shades right, it could look very cool.

I see what you're saying Dr H.

I'm not a fan of the quarters, but the halves thing might look cool, I'll have to play around with it a little more and see what I come up with. Thanks for the input.
