On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

I saw this on the wargames factory website: http://wargamesfactory.com/webstore/rising-sun/ashigaru-missile-troops
With this box I could start a infantry platoon, I have tons of spare lasrifles and hands. I was wondering if this would work.

oh it definitely works, check out my blog, I'm using those models combined with cadians to make my IG. Personally though I'd use samurai as vets and Ashigau as basic guardsmen, but that's just me. BTW the samurai and ashigauru parts are compatible as far as I know, so go crazy.

It will work...until some rules-nazi refuses to allow them because they are not X% GW (the body core, legs, and head are WGF while the arms and weapons are GW).
I've been looking at them for the same purpose...but plan to use the Cadian legs and arms with the body and head being WGF.

As mentioned in yeri's plog, I personally think that the IG parts are too big for these models. Everyone looks like they have gorilla arms is you use the GW parts. But to each his own.

My local GW has approved my design. Here's a little formula I use to see if it's GW legal:
First if both the legs and body are GW it's generally approved.
if you mix and match either the legs or the body then the arms must be GW to be approved.
basicly if two of the below are GW with one of them being a the legs or the body it's generally approved:
Arms, Legs, Body, Head

Unfortunately - there isn't actually any such formula in existence. Might be what the current manager allows for you to get away with - but there is no guarantee that the next will concur, or that should you decide to play in a GW sponsored tournament that they would see it that way too. Over the years, I have seen a couple GW stores where they won't allow any identifiable 3rd party items on their tables (pretty much limits you to bases). At others...where the staff are more interested in gaming as opposed to the company line I have seen straight proxy models being used from other companies.
If you primarily game at GW stores or GW events - it is a risk you need to consider. I haven't gamed in a GW store or GW event for years though - so I say more power to you.

Hey I saw your post, and I whipped up a test model from some extra parts I had laying around. hope you like it:
I think I'll use the WGF heads and bodies left over and the cadian legs I never used to double my models, thanks for the idea Kelly.

Yeri: yep, that is exactly how i figured they would go together.
I already have a box of WGF Samurai...the body/head swaps would make excellent sergeants.

oh yea they would, that's what I do. just be sure that the samurai has his two swords, because that is his symbol of rank. plus the katanas make excellent close combat weapons to replace the chainsword with (if only I had the skills to make a chainsword katana, if only)
EDIT: by the way I'm calling the version with the WGF torso the 'Fonsu" pattern armor, it' the meaning of Kelly translated into japanese, and the one using the cadian torso and WGF legs is the "Fuyu" pattern armor which is japanese for winter, because they look like they're wearing bulky winter clothes.
I'm thinking of making tutorials on how to make all the stuff on my blog, it's simple really, but it's more so people can shop around and see what style suits them. would anyone be interested in me making one?

Thanks yeri...I'm honored.
Got 50 Ashigaru heads and bodies coming and will get Cadian parts to match out.
My plan is to have the regular joes (8 out of 10 models) pretty much like the picture. The 9th guy will have the drum on the back and will hold the squads Noburi (banner). The 10th will be the Sgt and will be built using Samurai parts...including a personal Mon that will match with the Noburi.
These would make great Allies for my Samurai themed Space Marine Army, with the SM Commander/ being the Shogun, Sgts being Daimyo, regular marines are Samurai (hence each Marine has a unique Sashimono, but themed to match by squad), the IG Commander being a lesser Daimyo, IG Sgts are Samurai, and grunt IG being Kachi (soldiers).
I'm thinking of making Commisars Samurai also, but distinguishing them with a different colored armor (black most likely) and a Sashimono that is black with red border and a white skull centered on it. Probably rank them as Ronin since they do not fall under the SM/IG ranking structure.
So much to build and paint...so little time.
