I have been looking through the the pictures from Games Day UK and although they are a bit bury on some of them I have been reading and a few things got me excited.

We now have assault cannons I think they are only for Obliterators but still, 3 Obliterators firing 3 assault cannons can be extremely devastating.
That hades autocannon looks amazing and especially when the forgefiend can have 2 of them 8 strength 8 shots at ap 4 pinning.
From what I could read possessed have gotten better. At the start of each sub-fight phase they roll on their table, they can get re-rolls to wound, ap 3 or +1 attack and +1 initiative (hard to tell but I think it says initiative) this seem to make them worth using.
We now have access to thunder hammers, I am going to assume that terminators will get them.
Daemon Princes even though they go a points increase to 145 their state line is worth it. And unless I am reading it wrong they are now WS 9 I 8 and now have a base of 5 attacks.
The power scourge look really cool S 8 AP 2 and that flail rule, OMG I want one.
Plague marines are poisoned in close combat and against most things get re-rolls to wound.
Terminator champs are still characters so that's still a plus considering wolf guard and all that lost there character rule.
The Baleflamer looks really cool, its like a vamped up flame storm cannon.
The ectoplasma cannon is a strength 8 plasma cannon with 24", I am unsure of what unit will get that.
Ahriman have 5 wounds now that's pretty intense.
Another thing that looks cool it the ability to buy up to 3 mastery levels on daemon princes, most likely the same for the sorcerer.
Noise marine sonic blasters are salvo 2/5 thats a lot of shots.

I stop rambling now, but what do you fellow chaos player think of the new codex so far.

I'm digging the new stuff. I know I'm in the very definite minority, but I love the new daemon engines as well. This is the direction I was hoping they'd go - away from spikey Marines and into the chaotic and daemonic.

While I was planning a small Chaos army as a diversion from my Tyranids, this release has cemented it as a full blown second army, something I swore to myself I wouldn't do.

Ahriman has 5 wounds? I hope you are joking, I really do..if not...the 6th ed codex creep has begun....

Back on topic, I really like the way the new Raptors look. I have kinda been on a Night Lords kick recently and the new models would look soooo good in Night Lords color.

That new daemon engine, the forgefiend is going to demolish every thing that is a vehicle.

And I am pretty sure it's a five but it is sort of blurry. And the raptors will be awesome night lords models.

Yeah it just goes to show that some people you can't please, ever. So many peope clamouring that anything would be better than the CSM codex we have now and they get it and still complain and moan about it. The mini releases are kind of unimpressive with a lack of any new models for core units, but there is definitely some cool stuff available that I am annoyed that I want to get my grubby hands on. The only thing I disliked in the old codex were the generic greater and lesser daemons. Why spend years establishing those unique daemonic pantheons only to completely ignore them? An addition of generic greater and lesser daemons would have been neat as an option for summoning for unaligned forces (and to encourage some cool conversions for them too!!), but why remove all of the specific daemons for marked armies? Never made sense to me. Have to admit that every now and then I am drawn back to the old Realms of Chaos Lost and the Damned hardback and roll on the tables there to create my own pantheon of lesser daemons to convert up and use in 40k. Just haven't had the time to devote to the project. The one pantheon of daemons they came out with to support the new daemon prince Kweethul Gristlegut was very intriguing.

Ahh...the unplanned second army. Take heart. In time you'll be so busy working on your 3rd army you won't have any time to feel anymore guilt about the 2nd.
