Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Toronto, Ontario

My new project is going to be a Chaos Marine army but I'm having trouble deciding on a paint scheme. Ever since I got my brother excited about painting his Ultramarines, I'm rediscovered my love of painting little men. I'm in the process of revitalizing my footguard hoard by painting all the little bits of their accessories to add life to the models and I'm reminded of how important a plan is to painting. Thankfuly, I had the forsight to plan out my colours, even if an entire edition went by before I added all my details work. The reason I'm stuck is I'm painting my guardsmen a deep green and greyishblue combo and I've just finished priming my nids to take their purple/black scheme. To mix it up I'm also working on a heaviy converted chaos marine force, but I'm having real trouble deciding on colours. I want all my armies to have different base colours, and since next to come are necrons and Tau, I've sort of reserved metalic grey and brown.

That leaves me with blue, yellow, pink, red, orange and black. Black is a little to dark for me and I don't want a Blacl Legion army. Blue/Yellow, Red and Pink are already taken by well knowLegions, which leaves me with Orange. I'm okay with that as I can darken it up later with a nice brown wash for a burnt orange look, but I'm stuck on what to use as secondary colours. Black is nice but I too much of it will remind people of trick or treating intead of fear. So my question is what colours are good compliments/contrasts to an orange base colour?

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. Emperor show mercy to mine enemies, for as sure as the Imperium is vast, I will not!

Really the only colours you can do a CsM army in army in are Yellow/Gold and Blue for Tzeentch, Black for Black Legion, green/brown/greenywhite for Nurgle/Deathguard, Pink for Slaanesh noise marines, and red for Khorne and everything else. Orange is mormally too bright for grimdarkedydark CSM, but it can be done.

Have a look around the P&M showcase forum, there should bea thread with an Orange Chosen there. I'll look myself and get a link too.
