Can we close and lock this thread please.

It looks like it promises info November 2014 releases, not November 2012.

Also it got the new release of Bretonnians in 2013 wrong

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Hmm, I haven't read anything about Skaven getting released next. I think all the rumors so far point to Wood Elves.

The thread starter doesn't want this thread to be locked, as it is the best place to post small Fantasy rumours e.g. about release schedule.

Bad thing is that Harry and Hastings basically stopped posting rumours, so we can't see far into the future anymore with reasonable trustworthyness.

With the sales position of Fantasy continuing to fall in the US (now out of the top 5) I'm less and less certain GW will carry on supporting it,

Don't see why the us market would bother them sure they might slow down but can't see them canning fantasy

Rare Units
Rare units are very powerful and highly influential additions to your army, representing the most deadly troops available. The deadly Trebuchet is perfect for flattening cowering enemy units, while a unit of Grail Knights will make an impressive centrepiece for your army.

And apparently you don't get any as Bretonia:

9th edition doesn't seem like a possibility this year, with 40k getting a "new edition". So, it's likely 2015... a shame, imo, since fantasy could Really use a jolt these days.

They are selling out all their stock from what I understand and restocking for when they release them again (again just from what I have read on the interwebs)

Why do Skaven need an update? I am happy with them right now...other than a massive F.A.Q they play really well.
I personally don't want a Skaven update just yet but it is going to be the oldest book once Brets and Wood Elves get theirs (Beastmen is newer than Skaven!!)

I think it needs a jolt in popularity but I am not sure it needs a new Edition just yet.....except a few things (mainly steadfast) it is a pretty solid edition but some people don't see that. I would like to see more people getting into Fantasy though, it is still pretty popular in my area though.

How solid of a rumor is this, nowadays? I heard about it when it first came out, but haven't really been keeping tabs as I don't play 40k anymore.

There are 5-6 rumours of the same quality about what is the major summer release this year.
I can't say which one is true.

Don't want to start a new thread for this since it is a garbage rumor, but...

Fantasy Rumors - Apr 2014

via an anonymous source on Faeit 212
- the next fantasy edition is no continuation of the 8th edition. It uses a
variant ruleset of 40k now
- Fantasy has no movement value anymore, but a armour saving profile
- there are still armour savings modifiers
- all special rules use the 40k rules
- units move like 40k units, but can assume one of three formations, block,
tortuga and arrow
- fantasy flyers can only be hit with minus three to the ballistic talent
and can hit models under their flight path
- there are allies in fantasy
- war machines are their own category like special and core now, 25% of
points can spent on war machines
- there is a system to buy terrain
- warlord tables, but can choose which trait to get
- weapons have a profile like 40k but no armour ignore column

That movement thing is the worst thing I can imagine for Fantasy. It was a nail in the coffin for 40k so any of that's true it's just honestly the end.

It was a nail in the coffin for 40k 15 years ago when we removed movement values? Riiight.

These are absolutely terrible. With a few exceptions. Warlord tables could be interesting, war machine % did exist at one point, wouldn't mind it again. would free options for my TK with rare. Allies did exist previously and if it's not a mess like 40k could work well. (no allied lords or rare choices maybe) buying terrain as magic items already exists kinda. I wouldn't mind seeing an expansion of this.

The royal we?

So space marines move as fast as a race that perceives time differently? Yes I understand additional rules were added and it was streamlined too be faster but it lost its charm. If the proposed changes here happen it will happen again.

If you don't think 3rd ed was a disaster then honestly I'm not sure how to reply too you.

I really don't believe much coming from Faeit these days, other than the ole 'even a broken clock is right twice' etc.

However those rumours are so much of a what the feth, I feel the rare need to share the great Nathen Fillion as I can't even comprehend a logical response.

I would assume they mean no movement value like 40k. All infantry moves the same distance. All beasts move the same. All cavalry move the same. All monsters move the same. Basically all unit types have a specific movement distance, not all units have the same movement distance.

I'd love to call this rumour crap, but with what's been going in with GW lately, I've got a wait and see attitude.

The only possible good thing that could come of this is if they made the two systems compatible somehow.
At least that way the players can give as much crap about lore and balance as GW seems to.

I don't know if any of you guys are thinking of collecting Wood Elves, but we've just had a phonecall saying that they are now out of stock in both America AND Europe and also the webstore! So they've been super popular and won't have anymore until the 16th June... We have 3 left so if you want one, come down to store!

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
