Mine arrived and I'm happily building away. I have some of the WGF shock troopers and putting one of those next to the new models is it's quite stark how far ahead the DF/WGF team is ahead of what WGF was doing on their own just two years ago. I hope the partnership continues into the future.

The Ada model is quite nice. I though I remembered plans for a female trooper squad to go along with her as part of the kickstarter campaign, but I couldn't find anything. Did I imagine that or are they part of a future wave?

OK. I'm going to start painting my beastie up soon. I'm wondering what the best course to take would be for the big sucker.

I know it has multiple articulation points. I'm kinda stymied in my plans because of them

I'm wondering if it would be easiest to prime all parts first, while on sprue, then assemble as I go. Once I get subsections done paint them, and move to next section. Finally paint armor plating sections and assemble into final product.

Or, Assemble everything and prime, and use a TON of masking tape to section off areas for airbrushing.

My only worry about priming after total assembly would be locking the pose with the primer layer. I'd like to be able to find the pose I like and not be stuck to it right after assembly.

Any ideas?

It's all going to be down to what the tollerances are on those moving surfaces

You may find primer + paint mean they won't fit together

so maybe build/glue the non moving bits

test assemble the moving bits without glue, then chose pose, fix prime and paint

(and I'd reccomend Tamiya Tape for masking, it sticks better, and is less likely to pull paint off than standard masking tapes)

I got mine yesterday. All Ive got to say is WOW. Starting at the box, it was more along the lines of the high end collectibles than a model kit. The packaging is crazy nice for what amounts to just a bunch of parts. The parts themselves are great, some of the best casting Ive ever seen.

Looking forward to starting on it, but Ive got a few things to get past (moving, etc) to do before I can get into a project of this scale.

However, the 2 bonus minis will likely be done sooner than later.

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch
X wing
Open to other games too

I am partial to this primer, http://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-DAP1692-General-Purpose-Sandable/dp/B001DKR3MO It goes on smooth bites well, does not run and is wet sandable. What I like most about it is that if you go fairly light on your coat, it sucks right up to the details and does not soften the edges or fill the details.

If you use a filler (Squadron, milliput, etc) to take care of any seams http://www.scalemodelguide.com/construction/materials/learn-gap-fillers/ The primer will show you where you need to go back and sand, since it is wet sandable it is a great fit. Save your water base paints if you are using them for the actual paint... sanding water based paints will not give you good results, it will ball up and scratch off a plastic kit.

Cain, me too, but 3 HW squads gives me 9 and I want 10 . Could also do a bit of cash or bits if necessary. Somebody help a brother out and sell/trade me your extra heavy weapon team (edited due to page rollover).

I'll see if I can find some of that at my Walmart or Hobby Lobby. If it's thinand sticks well, it may be just what I'm looking for. Now, What color Primer? White, Black, or Grey? I'm leaning toward black. I'm going to be using Vallejo Model Air Gunmetal Metalizer for the heavy structure metal, lighter slivery color for pistons, and Vallejo Model air Dark Yellow for armor base color.
Thanks!

Box just arrived today. These are hands down the nicest plastic multi pose miniatures I have ever seen. No flash, I don't even see mold lines on them....how is that even possible? I'm still not a fan of the weapons lay out, but at the price I can order some assault rifles if I need to.

Really really impressed! These make me want to sell all my other miniatures so that I can just stock up on these. Just options galore with the accessory set.

You have set the bar very high with these kits, I'm seeing other games and kickstarters coming out and to be honest these miniatures are my new measure. If a game can't produce miniatures of this quality at a fair price......I'm no longer interested.

Why did I order so many Addas?????

Some fun banter over on BOLS as to the best kit releases over the last two years. Seems that some of the comments say the Crusader is one of the best kits within the last two years. I don't know if that true, but its a very nice compliment.

Mine should arrive tomorrow, almost like mark loves me...

I can attest to how awesome the resin model is, if these are close to it then I'd have to say that they are correct.

I just hope the box is there before I leave for work so the wife doesn't fund it.

Don't sell yourself short. Put this review in your advertising to distributors and use it to motivate the hell out of them.

I don't know about the crusader, but if it's anywhere near as good as the storm troopers I have to agree. You may be a multiple winner! I think there is some skill needed to build both kits, these are not going to be the easiest things to put together, so much detail, such little parts. Definitely not for the 10 year olds, but that's a good thing in my book.

Well I started. The legs are a bit tricky.

Also, I think the guide should leave some steps until the end. You don't want to glue on screw covers until you've got the thing positioned they way you want. Or you are sure you have enough tension it will hold all the weight. The cannon is heavy LOL

I am trying to assemble as much of the 'undercarriage' as possible so I can paint that and the armor separately.

The kit is amazing. One the most complex peices, the waist bones, I can see the mold lines, but I can NOT FEEL them. They just aren't there! It's effing amazing!!!

The AA support weapon was a refresher in patience. Not something you just throw glue at and hope it stays together. It reminds me of the battleships I used to build, lots of small detail parts and having to actually wait for the glue to bond.

The models are excellent. That is a fact.

I'm pretty sure that, once I've got the pose I want settled, EVERYTHING except the arm mounts and stacks/coolers (they're getting properly magnetized) is getting glued in place.

That's funny, I was thinking that too, I've built a Turpitz, USS Arizona, and The Big J. Had to use tweezers to put some of those bits on. I think I'll have to do that again here. Looking at the accessory sprue actually hurt my eyes.......sucks getting older, I may have to invest in some reading glasses, but it'll be worth it.

I did partial assembly then prime. I was amazed at some of the engineering in the parts. I have left every joint moveable, including the legs. I still fully expect it to stand quite freely. Most of the joints are tighten able with screws that come in the kit (and a mini screwdriver).

Well, this is only dryfit (and quite tightly, too, a testament to the quality of the overall model fit), but I just had to see the Vulkan NOW, because enormous gatling cannons are among the coolest looking guns in existence.
