I am playing tomorrow night and I threw this list together from the models that I had available ... I could really use some feedback before playing

Space Wolves 1500 Point Army List

1 Rune Priest (Terminator Armor, Wolftooth Necklace, Wolf Tail Tailsman, Chooser of the Slain – JOTWW, Living Lighting) – 145 (Attached to the Wolf Guard inside the Drop Pod)

{4 Wolf Guard (4 Terminator Armor, 3 Combi-Plasma, 3 Wolf Claw, 1 Assault Cannon, 1 Chainfist, Drop Pod) – 242}
{4 Wolf Guard (4 Terminator Armor, 4 Powerfist) – 172 Pack Leaders for the Grey Hunters}

{All Wolf Guard are part of the same unit - 4 are broken off for pack leaders to the Grey Hunters the rest are in the Drop Pod with the Rune Priest}

The list is pretty straight forward, 10 man grey hunter units with a wolf guard terminator march forward the entire game while the lone wolf hunts armor or monstrous creatures. I know the list could use a few more long fangs but I do not have any spare missile launcher bits around (going to ebay some next month). The drop pod rune priest and wolf guard terms are suppose to drop and pop a high value target and be a distraction while the rest of the army advances.

isnt it a waste to kind of sacrifising your rune priest?, i would rather send him with a unit that is more likely to survive longer

I would get rid of the drop pod. This unit will drop in and shoot something up and then die the next turn as your enemy focus fires his entire army at them. The rest of your army is too slow to take advantage of this. Also you will serve up your war lord on a platter and allow the enemy to easily score the vp.

IF you can "name" some models second why Assault Cannon and not CML.I agree better keep the RP behind for the LW i like them to but 85 for a model that will die isnt to much better a land raider or two rhinos

I am running something similar.
2 gh squads 2 plasma banner
2 gh squads 2 melta banner

2 units of 6 lf with 5 ml per unit.
6 lf 5 hb

termies with p ax and either combi plasma or melta and a cml to go with lfs.

2 rune priests one with tda or what not and jotww and the other takes what ever.

I may just walk the rune priest unit with the rest of the army and throw in a long fang with a lascannon for any AV 14.

I didnt go with the CML because the SW term box doesnt come with one (I had to kit bash a thunder hammer shaft with a storm shield to make the lone wolf all the SS and Chain fists are for the same hand = /) i'm trying to save some money - ive heard good things about assault cannons in the past and it will be in the same threat range as the comiplasmas

I'm going to keep the LW in play .... with challenges / the amount of armor he can crack with a chain fist / being able to lock up a unit in assault and setup a rapid fire for a plasma hunter squad is too much to pass up (and for 85 points he has alot of utility)

- Next month I plan to pick up another long fang or two and swap a unit of grey hunters out or hold them for high point games. - I will also pick up a CML termie too and swap it out for the assault cannon
- Later on down the road too I plan to mix in IG allies and go primarius psyker and a 50 man blob of guardsmen with the rune priest leading (master of runes / BRB powers)

For right now I am just trying out a footslog to get a feel for the play style - thanks for the advice so far, anything else?

For guards men run njal he's pro.
