I am assuming this question comes up a lot, but the old threads I found were less than 100% for me in terms of a verdict. Crisis suits have 3 hard points, and they can take 3 different weapons or 1 weapon and 1 twin linked weapon. Is it possible to run 2-twin linked?

Forgeworld has a couple of crisis suit models that are not special characters and have 3 weapon systems, 1 of which is twin-linked (missiles). Is this incorrect? Army Builder also lets me select 3 weapons, 1 weapon and 1 twin linked, or 2 Twin linked.

Broadsides also have 2 twin linked weapons on their suits (though slightly different I guess then Crisis Suits).

I just wanted to verify one way or the other.

Trust the Tau Codex and what it says.

Never trust what Army builder says when there is something that seems off.

Always trust the codex for the relevant rules.

No you cannot have two twin-linked weapons on crisis suits.

I assume the FW suits use specific rules laid out in the IA books.

Yes I have the suits in question and they have their own rules in IA3. I also asked this question almost right off the bat. And the best explanation I found was this:
While a twin linked weapon counts as a single weapon, it takes up 2 hard points, so you would not be able to have 2 twin linked weapons.

Aaah, thanks so much for pointing that out

The suit shown is a special FW suit that included an SMS on a Crisis suit chassis, not a twin linked weapon. You would have to check the FW rules for the specific suit.

The suits on forgeworld are "prototype" unique varieties that have their own rules. I believe they can be taken inidvidually or as bodyguards for Shas'o R'myr. the XV84 and XV89 look to have more flexibilty to count as codex legal suits.

Doubt any of my local players will have an issue if I count these suits as normal suits, they look awesome.

In either case, consensus is there are special rules for the suits, thanks everyone.

The under arm mounting for the weapons is so bad-ass.

You can over, under, and side mount weapons on standard XV-8 arms.

The mounts do not look like the ForgeWorld ones, furthermore, the only 'hole' available to mount the weapon in is on the side of the arms (and on the top of the back pack). The weapons have little square inserts on several sides that are designed to mount into said hole.

Obviously you can glue them anywhere you like, but the ForgeWorld mounts look so much better.

Your right, I was thinking the inside mount was an under mount, just double checked mine.

I wish the standard suits came like this, they'd probably sell more
