I really quite enjoy having my army converted, but I am also a very mediocre converter. Before I go out and buy a heldrake, I wanted to know what people thought the difficulty level of putting a tail on the heldrake was and still having it look nice. I have looked at the sprues in comes in and I don't think I can use the parts inside the box to make one.

Does anyone have any suggestions as if I can use parts from other models or something to make the tail?

Apostrophes aren't for plurals!

The bits in that Photoshop image are actually all taken from a Heldrake. They're a few more spine sections paired with another pair of small wings. It wouldn't be too hard to do.

Hmm, making copies of the existing armor plates out of plastic card and continuing on the existing pattern by adhering them onto the spinal portion of the model.

It does have a tail, but it's really more of a nub... I was surprised that it has hind legs

The easy option would be to use the neck, reversed as a tail, presuming you don't mind a short-necked 'dragon'. Hmm, or the neck from the new fiend model (again, presuming you don't mind being left with a short-necked fiend, which I think would look fine.)

The 'back wings' would be relatively easy conversions, just strips of thin plasticard glued over flat wing shapes to match the look of the front wings. Making a nice connection point between the tail and back wings might not be easy though - personally I probably wouldn't bother with the back wings at all, and instead give it some sort of spikey or tentacley tail end.

Or if you're rich, just buy another heldrake for parts

I would say stick a tail from the forge world tyranid harridan on it and put spare metal plates on it. AND replace the wings with the ones from the harridan and metal plate them

I don't know where it's from. I saw someone else post it as not their's on the B&C and I've been looking, but can't find anything.

I personally dislike the model, but adding a tail and flipping the wings makes it look pretty good. However, my idea is to take a Fantasy Zombie Dragon, and metal bits to it, and viola; Heldrake. I always imagined it more like a daemon anyways over more machine.

Conversion to my first Heldrake. It went pretty good considering it was my first real conversion.
