Hello dakka.

Here we have what is the start of a project i will finish (hopefully!). It is based losely on Dawn of War Soulstorm, and by that i mean it's the Blood Ravens chapter, so no converted Boreal or anything... i'm not that good

Anyway, i picked up this fella yesturday and finished it today. I've gone with a battle-worn look.

Hope you like it:

Overall, i'm very happy with him.
The cloak, however, is less than impressive. Not too bad for a first cloak lol (i always avoided them cause they would never look good )
Also, the weathering pigments... It's the first time i used it on a model that wasn't a test model. I guess practise makes perfect.
I'm very pleased with the head and face. I think i looks great. The best face i've painted to date
I also very much like the banner.

What do you guys think? I appreciate any C&C.

(Next up is a Tactical Squad - should be a week or two untill they are done)

Looks pretty good. For the cloak, I avoid them too but check out some of the wet blending tutorials out there.

I would suggest a little more work on the banner. Just a wash and highlight on the green and a bit of definition on the scroll part of the banner. Also maybe just a little bit of highlighting on the rope thing wrapped round him.

But, yeh, good looking model. The battle damage is particularly impressive. Looks really really good. Not too much of it either, just about the right amount. I've never done it before but am planning to attempt it on my next project.

Base looks good too.

Thanks

The rope didn't come out great in the pic, it was painted leather brown, highlighted with bonewhite:leather brown (1;1), then washed with agrax earthshade. It looks better in person

I used one of the plastic pieces from GW's Basing Kit. Had it since Xmas and not used it, so i thought why not!
