I just picked up a bunch of Chaos Marines and the new Codex, and this is my first rough Build. The only other models I own are Kharn, a Dark Vengance Chaos Lord and the 6 Chosen. Any insights/reccomendations on builds? I think all my infantry will be footslogging. Not sure who the Warlord will be, or the primary/secondary.

Lots of options on the Chaos Marines/Berserkers, not sure how to organize them yet. I want Khorne themes. Suggestions for additions new models would be nice, but not too wildly different from this list, as I like the models in here and want to keep the similar elements.

Ok, so I now have a squad of x4 Flakk Missile Launchers, too. So, I realize everyone is in the midst of learning how to use the new codex, this is more of a brainstorming session where I'm asking for suggestions from other players with the new book in hand.

my total inventory for the army Thus Far:

Chaos Daemons Codex:
x1 Bloodthirster
x3 Bloodcrushers
x30 Bloodletters

Chaos Space Marines Codex:
x1 Demon Prince
x1 Chaos Lord (Dark Vengeance)
x1 Kharn, the Betrayer
x6 Chosen (Dark Vengance)
x12 Khorne Berzerkers - unassembled
x10 Chaos Marines - Unassembled
x5 Havocs - 4 Missile Launchers
x1 Forgefiend

So, for 1850 Points, what suggestions would anyone have concerning possible builds? I wanna run up and beat face, and not die horribly in the process, or at least beat my opponent.

So I played my 2nd game with the 1st posted list, and I wrecked a Tau gunline list. He had his 3+ cover on vehicles, nightvision during first turn, and 40+ Fire Warriors/Gundrones in a corner with an ADL, not to mention stealth suits, pathfinders, a Hammerhead and 3 Broadsides. I have to say the FMC rules are pretty deadly, I can deepstrike down and hide behind cover still out of LoS while in glide mode for the few that can see me ... just to jump in and kill lots in assault, surviving until the end of his turn due to challenges. The 2 Demon FMC's, plus my Juggernaut Lord were what won me the game, deepstriking and running up his flank behind terrrain, besides from my CSM squad and the Havocs camping on objectives (and having suprisingly effective firepower), for Big Guns Never Tire. The Berserkers never even had time to reach the opponent's line; the Forgefiend managed to get 2 glancing hits on the Hammerhead before I lost it after my 1st turn (railguns hurt!).

My two games have showed me the most effective models in my list thus far:

1) Bloodthirster
2) Juggernaut Lord (These two are really tied for first)
3) Khorne Demon Prince
4) Forgefiend
5) Havocs
6) CSM Troops/Berserkers
7) Bloodcrushers
8) Bloodletters
9) Kharn

It's not that Kharn wasn't useful; he just didn't do anything in my list. However, the Crushers and Letters were easily gunned down, even with careful terrain placement. It's the ability to rush up and ambush him with the 12" move + assault charge.

I'm considering adding a Land Raider for either the CSM or Berserkers to run with Kharn, and give more of a charge for the rest of the army onto the enemy.

Thoughts?

blood for the blood god my friend

scrap the chosen for more berzerkers x20 squad with kharn, they are deadly

x30 blood letters ( dont quote me on this but i think they can only have squad of 20 ) they are AMAZING killing machines the problem is they die SO FAST!

crushers are amazing

blood thirster is a cc monster, very few things can kill it in a 1v1 in melee

demon prince are expensive >.>

lord is fine i guess

kharn IS AWESOME!

if you have 10 non upgraded marines then put them in a rhino then rush them along

forge fiend give it 2 havoc launchers and the ectoplasum cannon and it is a anti infantry monster, unless its the melee version then its a vehical killer

make the 5 havocs 10 and make the sargent run a AA fortress line its a lot of points but its the 2nd best anti air set you can find

we dunno wot you been told,
our Stormboyz here are mighty bold,
we da best of da lot,
we make yins look like grots
