A friend and I played a 1750pt 40k game with my Death Guard vs his Tau. For game type and Deployment we rolled the Emperor's Will and Vanguard Strike.

My list was-
30 Cultists
9 Plague Marines, Plasma Gun, in a Rhino
11 Chaos Marines, Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter
10 Chosen with Mark of Nurgle, Meltagun, Flamer, Heavy Bolter, and Plasma Gun, in a Rhino
Typhus
5 Chaos Terminators, Terminator Champion
Daemon Prince with Mark of Nurgle
Helbrute with Mark of Nurgle
Predator with Daemonic Possession and all Lascannons

His list was something like-
Two Broadsides with Railguns
4? Teams of 6 Fire Warriors each
4 Devilfishes
2 Hammerheads with Railguns
2 Teams of 6 Stealth Suits each
4? More Battlesuits including his commander
Bastion

He probably had more but I don't know Tau that well

We had the terrain placed so that two buildings and a rock cave were in the top right corner. Of course John took that side, placing his bastion between a rock and a hard place and effectively sealing off the passage to his objective. His tanks were spread around the outsides and there was various battlesuits and fire warriors in sniping positions on the cave and the bastion.

Turn 1-
I rolled to go first. John didn't try to seize the initiative.
I moved my cultists so that they controlled my objective, advanced my rhinos, and moved Typhus and friends forward. My Hellbrute rolled Blood Rage, advancing fully towards the Broadsides on top of the cave. My predator shot his Bastion, and failed to do anything.

Johns Turn-
John moved some fire warriors into his bastion and brought some of his tanks around. He shot my chosen rhino and wrecked it, forcing my chosen out.

Turn 2-
I moved my Hellbrute, rolling Blood Rage again, this time he moved up the hill and towards the closest Devilfish. Typhus and friendsmoved up the hill too, advancing with the helbrute. On the other side of the board, my plague marine rhino advanced. The rhino's twin linked bolter brought down one of the broadside's shield drones, and my predator brought down an advancing Devilfish.

John's turn-
One of his railguns brought down my plague marine rhino, exploding it and killing a plague marine. He took a hull point of my Helbrute with another one. My regular marine squad was hit with skyray? missiles and took about 4 losses. My chosen squad was also his and lost about 4 as well.

Turn 3-
I moved my chosen farther down the table, nearing his bastion. My plague marines moved as well. Typhus and friends moved towards the fire warrior squad in the wreckage of the Devilfish. My plague marines shot a nearby Devilfish and it exploded. Typhus's unit assaulted the fire warriors and quickly wiped them out, consolidating over the hill.

John's turn-
John put railguns into my Daemon Prince and my Hellbrute. The Hellbrute exploded and the Daemon Prince took a wound. He moved his Devilfish around the edge of the table, nearing my objective. Battlesuits teleported behind my predator, immobilizing it with their guns and killing a marine or two. He also shot my chosen down to two with his pathfinders.

Turn 4-
We rolled for night fight and it did not happen. My last 2 chosen neared his bastion and shot it at 6" with my meltagun. It was wrecked and the troopers dissembarked. Typhus and his unit went down the hill and also neared his bastion. The plague marines came around the side.

John's turn-
Fire warriors dissembarked the Devilfish next to my objective. Stealth suits entered the table there also. They shot my cultists, killing about 10. My chosen were wiped out, and I lost a terminator.

Turn 5-
I moved all my units except for my cultists towards his objective. I think I killed a gun drone or a fire warrior.

John's turn-
The devilfish, fire warriors, and stealth team unleashed a rain of fire on my cultists, which were dropped down to six! He then ran his stealth suits and they got within 3" of my objective to contest. He won, getting one objective, line breaker, and a contest. I got a contest and linebreaker with my plague marines.
It was a fun game, and I hope play John's Tau again sometime.

The Diseased Sons will be back for revenge...

Hey, nice short battle report, thanks.

I have some questions:

Helbrute with Mark of Nurgle, how did you do this?

You rolled on the Crazed table for the Helbrute even before it was shot at, that's not possible. You should only roll if your opponent got a Glancing and/or Penetrating hit on it in his turn.

You also wrote that your Daemon Prince took a wound from a Railgun. Didn't he use the S10 shot? If so, and if your Daemon Prince took a wound, then he was Instantly killed.

Andy Chambers wrote:
To me the Chaos Space Marines needed to be characterised as a threat reaching back to the Imperium's past, a threat which had refused to lie down and become part of history. This is in part why the gods of Chaos are less pivotal in Codex Chaos; we felt that the motivations of Chaos Space Marines should remain their own, no matter how debased and vile. Though the corrupted Space Marines of the Traitor Legions make excellent champions for the gods of Chaos, they are not pawns and have their own agendas of vengeance, empire-building vindication or arcane study which gives them purpose.

Indeed, that prince should have been toast.

I don't remember the exact weapon the Prince was hit with, if it was S10, he would have been dead.
Also about the hellbrute, I was borrowing a codex that was also being used and someone told me for x amount of points my Hellbrute could take mark of Nurgle and had the same profile and rules as the old dread. Shouldn't have listened to him...
Sorry about the rules questions...

Doesn't the mark of nurgle stop the Demon prince getting killed as it gives it +1 toughness?

^No. The Daemon Prince doesn't have Mark of Nurgle, It is a Daemon of Nurgle. It has S&P and some other stuff, but doesn't get the statline buff. All of the Daemon Prince 'marks' are like that.

Only Chaos Daemon "daemons" have EW. Standard daemons with the BRB daemon special rule only have 5++.
