So I really like the whole Master of Deception and think its by far the best and most competitive warlord trait. Combined with super melt your faces chosen I think its a win win.

Im just a bit confused on where to place some points. To be able to keep the synergy of this list.

HQ
Ahriman (230)

Elites
5x Chosen (150)
4 Plasma Guns

Troops
10x CSM (200)
10 CCW; 2 Plasma guns; 10 VOTLW

10x CSM (200)
10 CCW; 2 Plasma guns; 10 VOTLW

10x CSM (190)
10 CCW; 2 Melta guns; 10 VOTLW

25 Cultists (110)
Barebones

Fast Attack
Helldrake (170)

Heavy
Maulerfiend (125)
Maulerfiend (125)

Brings me to 1500 nicely.

The idea is that Ahriman infiltrates with the Chosen and Blasts away peoples faces with the Physic powers and the plasma torrent of fire.
The Two Maulers are there to provide aggression and attention. Supporting the HQ and Elites up front.

Ive been prefering more Troops to putting Troops in rhinos for a while now. So I have the cultists to sit and tie people up, whilst the CSM get into place. Support, Distract. Grab OBJs.
The melta troops will infiltrate as well if I roll high with Master of deception.

Helldrake is there to own. And to Full fill the role of MEQ. I dont see the Chosen lasting too long even with the maulers there as distractions.

So all in all My main two questions are.

Am I too heavy in the troops choice?
Maulerfiends or not maulerfiends? ( I love them but people seem to think they wont survive that long )
Also a Sneaky question in Troops choices, Just structuring them. VOTLW and no marks seems a bit weird. But the points are nice.

You should note that all of your CSM units are 10 points cheaper than you have listed by my calculations.

It's not a bad list but is terribly lacking in anti-air.

:/ I just checked with codex and they still come to 200 points. I would try to find out what I might be doing wrong, but dont want to list individual item listings lol.

Yeah I was a bit worried about long range shooting. But then I could always loose a mauler and the VOTLW on the squads to get a Havoc squad. Maybe sap some points elsewhere to then make them Flakk missile toting havocs.

Seems fairly well balanced to me, as for anti air, the heldrake should be fine and at 1500 you shouldn't come across a massive amount anyway

Fair point on the last one. Hmmm Kinda happy, Just need to play test it now.

Any other ideas for the Master of Deception?
I used to think Maulerfiends would be cool with it. But then I realised that Maulerfiends would be illegal to do that due to not being infantry lol.

Ah yes ofc (there goes my infiltrating helbrute idea aswell) good point.
Do us a favour and tell me how you get on with it! I don't get much opportunity to game but am thinking of a similar lit with huron

Very interested in this list as I'm fielding something quite similar. Please update with how it goes and any tweaks you have!

Thanks -

This is a good looking start.

Make sure you know how to have synergy with different psychic power combinations.

Yeah, Due to Ahriman not having to worry about getting three witch fire spells, my main worry is the ranges of them. I used to play alot of Tau so my psychic playing is not entirely at its best.

Ill play test it and get a battle report back asap. Buuuuuttt Im in Germany in the forces and literally no one English out near me plays So I just have to hope my next trip to a GW store may have someone there!

If anyone else has a list this close then I would love feed back to.
All I can say it Wait out! lol

Heldrake is not good at anti-air, and one on its own especially won't be able to handle two Ravens, three Vendettas, or four plus Night Scythes.

As to the OP on the points, sorry you are right, I miscalculated; that's what I get for rushing things.

Hell drake may not be the best anti air. But It can Vector strike air. So positioning could make it a win.

My meta doesnt have much Air, But at 1500 surely there wont be much out there?

Haha yeah no probs on the calcs. Theres so many options and I made the list on Quartermaster so had to double check the APP to the Dex.

Sure your right but if his opponent is sacrificing a 3rd of his points in flyers and you've got infiltrating scoring units with bat gak crazy psykers on the go, things could work out. Though i confess i have very little flyer experience so very little credibility.

Love your purple csm's btw you seemed to have nailed it, it can be quite easy to get purple wrong.

Nice to see so many UK forces posting on here, i try to hide my nerdiness in my unit but it turns out we are legion

Why Arhiman and not Huron? Huron saves a bunch of points and still gets you a heavy flamer, some psychic power, and master of deception.

Also, infiltrating so close to the enemy with your Warlord will quickly have him killed, esp. backed by only 5 chosen.

Also, Maulerfiends are your only answer to AV14, that's somewhat risky, although I like them in the list because it's focusing on being in the enemy face, giving time for the Maulers to get there.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

If I'm to be completely honest the main reason is that I just dont like Huron
But that aside, I really wanted the Psychic abilities in there. I did think that maybe having him with the Chosen was risky. Then thought about the cultists, to make them fearless. But I think that him with the chosen makes for a pretty swift attacking unit. Should hold out enough for reinforcements. I wasnt planning on keeping him still enough to get completely overwhelmed,
I just think Ahriman brings more to the table.

So I spose to get another suggestion would be either:
- Relocate Ahriman
- Use Huron. Then spend points as: More chosen with him or spend elsewhere.

I also do have two meltas in the CSM! Maybe a small amount. But how much AV14 is there in 1500.

I wanted to stay away from long fa....I mean Havoc spam. Though they are seemingly the most competitive lol.

@Batfink, Its kinda hard to hide over 5K of Tau and 6K of Chaos in the block.... :/ haha
