So I ran into a strange situation at the gamestore that my friends asked me about that I had never seen in any match of 40k yet.

My friend and his enemy began their match he was space wolves and his enemy was orks. Surprisingly no one had drawn first blood yet and it was the start of round 3, the mega nobz charged my buddy's grey hunters and runepriest. A challenge was issues to the Warboss leading the Meganobz and was accepted. As the fight folded out the rune-priest was used a force ax and his enemy was using a power klaw they both struck at init 1 and auto killed one another. Not only was this a double Slay the Warlord situation, but these were the first units to be removed form the game... how would you determine who obtained first blood?

They both get First blood, as they both fulfilled the condition at the same time.

GW has addressed this situation exactly, and states that if both are killed at the same time, both get first blood. It is completely possible for both players to receive the bonus of first blood due to a situation like the one above.

This is actually explicitly stated in the rulebook under First Blood, pg 122.

The rune priest should have hit at I4. Runic weapons are still unusual force weapons as such, they strike at I:user, S:user and have the force special rule.

If it had been a situation of a proper force axe I agree both of the players get slay the warlord and first blood.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

What unique close combat rules does it have that would make it unusual?

Space wolves runic weapons are all unusual force weapons, no matter what form they take, as they have special CC rules. (Barring Special Characters).

So, unless I missed something, a Runic axe is still Str: User, AP:3

This. 2+ to wound daemons makes it unique, which means ignore what it looks like, it is Str as user and AP3.

What happens if you wipe out 2 or more enemy units at one time?
Page 122 covers both players taking out each other at the same time, but they don't cover having 1 unit take out more than one unit at once.
For example, what would happen if a huge unit of hormagants charged ~3 guard squads, and broke and ran down all 3?
Or a single battle cannon shot kills 2 different units packed too close together?

You score First Blood exactly as the rulebook says? It's not actually important to know which kill did it if you manage to fulfill the condition three times at once.
