Back in Rogue Trader, there were rules in 40K for robots, but strangely, they quickly vanished in 2E (squats actually survived longer!).


I think it would be very cool to bring robots back, and I think it would be interesting to do it as an Adeptus Mechanicus army. I'm not sure if the techno-savants of Mars have ever had an army, but with their near-heretical worship of the machine spirit, there could be renegade units running around with thier own battle forces, or "security" for the Imperial Forgeworlds.

I know this sort of overlaps with Necrons, but I'd like to see the return of imperial robots - something that could be aligned with space marines or imperial guard. Daemonhunters might disapprove of the legions, grey knights indifferent ("Hey, at least they can't be corrupted")


HQ - Adeptus Mechanicus characters, techmarines

Troops - humanoid robots such as the cataphract robot

Heavy - tracked robots, something akin to the hunter-killer tanks of Terminator or epic-scale robot knights

Fast attack - flying hunter-killers, large walkers (like automated sentinels)

Elites - cybernetic devices (i.e., human mind) such as a dreadnought

The for we of mars do actually have an army codex ( found it on forge world ) their standard infantry are Skitarrii and carry hellguns and wear carapace armour , making them slightly OP but I can try and find it if you want to look into it

The closest is comes is the loyalist detachment of Ordo Reductor on Istvaan 3 from Horus Heresy Betrayal. It is not really an army.

Thanks, I may look into that. Primarily though, I'm looking for an excuse to use my old Rogue Trader era robot models (and maybe some of my battletech minis and whatnot).

really wish they would invest some time and care into mechanicus.

In the HH betreyal there is rules for the mechanicum stuff released so far but it has been promised that more stuff will be coming, including rules for the ordo cybernetica which is the robotic warfare branch of the mechanicum.
