I've been wondering for a while what is next for the orks such as codex and minifig. I really like the idea of a new codex coming out because:
1) New fluff
2) New unit which leads to new minifigs
3)Because im tired of the old codex

Personally i want to see more heros as the only 2 i usually every use are Ghaz n Wazzdakka all the others jsut seem meh to me. I'm thinking a bionik ork following Grotsnik fluff would be cool. A regenerating ork! Also moving weirdboyz to elite section and forcing weirdboyz to take a madboy retinue similar to Inquisitorial Henchman warband. It would consist of 5-14 mad boyz which would be boyz with 4WS 2BS 5S 4T 1W 1I 3A Ld 9 SV 6 for 12 points each. They would have rending and would also have fearless due to their insanity also new ability Clueless if the squad loses the weirdboy on a roll of 1 a madboy is removed, roll of 2-4 would be normal turn, 5 would result in moving an extra D6, and on a roll of a 6 the squad must move towards the nearest enemy and assault if possible . Maybe a possible upgrade could be lucky hat/trinkets (dah fluff!) giving a4+ inv. save for 6 points each, face gobbler squig which gives +1A per upgrade for 10 points each, and finally one can have a madboy banner which give 2 initiative and 1 WS to all units in squad ,yes weirdboy too, for 35 point which i think sounds reasonable. By the way the unit would not have any weapons no slugga or choppa just their bare hands. I think it would be cool to have a squad like that which can be tooled up if you have the extra points to become pretty scary close combat unit including Weridboy power weapon and possibility of warpath that could deal out 70 Rending attack from 14 people (no i did not include weirdboy) which would come from 3 normal attack each plus 1 for charge and 1 for warpath. KEEERUNCH

Other changes to codex i think should be remake flash gits which EVERYONE is saying and buff stormboyz slightly such as 4+ save and better I dues to being militaristic? also BS 3 which i know is breaking the biggest rule of orks (not grots) but hey these are orks who are obsses with order and it only seems right that they act slighlty more orderly than the green horde.

I think that Boss Snikrot should have a 3+ armor penetration with morks teeth, after all they are dead rippy.

Here is an interesting idea, for warboss, mek, and maybe 1 per nob squad a melee weapon a warp hammer ,jsut with a more orky name to it ,thatis 2 handed and sacrifices all attacks for one single attack using the flame template ,so forget bout BS, which does strength 10 Ap3 1hit to all in template. Additionaly forces psykers to take pyschic test and if failed disallows all spells for the rest of the game from that character (grey knight squads role as 1 person) and makes all other characters take a leadership test, yes psychers take both.

I wish there was some form of squig herd similar to grot but with melee version. 10 squigs and 1runtherd. Also 1 per 10 squigs could be upped to face gobbler. I have no idea for stats or rules of any type for this idea.

Model wise i would like meganobz which ive heard rumored to come out and flash git kits.

After Eldar/Dark Angels/Tau/Space Marines, I can see Orks being next. However that will not be for looong time, probably end of 2013/beginning of 2014.

Regardless of your opinion of the Chaos Codex... Kelly's Ork Codex is an excellent book with versatility, several strong builds and strong character. It still holds up well despite it's age and it was written in the closing months of 4th ed...

I would still rather Kelly writes the new Ork book than anyone else, given what he's already done for them...

My problem with the ork codex, and the reason why I've lost the 40K love, is not due to the codex but the massive meta shift from 5th to 6th.

Considering that there is almost no point in using a melee-focused army in 6th, I'm not sure how orks are going to fit without losing everything it is that makes them 'orky' (essentially, they are going to have to go from the 'quirky unpredictable horde that butchers everything in 1 round of assault' to 'spray and pray shooting' army, which really jars with the decades of established ork fluff attitude.

So whatever happens in the new dex, orks are going to become more like an IG clone army than a unique and quirky race that we are used to...

Why does Ward have a bad track record?
His codex' are solid, and sometimes referred at , but they're counterable.

All good info but what do you think about the models, things you want to see in codex or my ideas??

Another idea i had was doks use ork and squi/squiggoth genes to make ork-squig creature. YES this would be larger than warbosses BUT it would not lead armies it would be more of a point-in-the-direction-of-the-enemy sort of unit like Kharn or any sort of solo combat monster.

Also i would LOVE to see a grot hero XD.
Either 1wond sniper who hides in mob OR grot dok who buffs grots and makes em CC worthy. Either way AWESOME (but the CC buffer would be cooler).

as an ork player, i must admit, i dont think orks actually need a codex - i think they are doing really quite well in 5th and 6th.

What orks need is a codex 1.5 - i think a few minor things could do with minor amendments, and thats about it! namely for me the top 10 of these are:

1) change to WS3 and S4, delete furious charge
2) waaagh needs an update: make all units fearless, auto regroup those that are falling back and give everyone preferred enemy
3) flash gitz should move to elites go to a boyz profile with 6+ armour and cost 15 points like all the other elite boyz choices (exc upgrades ofc). i think gitfindas should have a similar set up to markerlights too
4) boyz should get burnas as well as rokkits and b.shootas as an option. warboss should also get burnas
5) meganobs should have access to a painboy (unless option 9 happens) and bosspoles
6) looted wagons needs an overhaul, perhaps splitting into 3 options with different prices, different AV, different rules & different upgrades depending on type(artillery, gun wagon and transport for example)
7) ramshackle should change so that the 3D6 scatter move happens on a 2-5 roll to make it less anticlimatical when it only happens 1 in 3 times
8) as much as i hate to say it, BW maybe should be a bit dearer when vanilla, with cheaper upgrades. also killcannon should go to S8 or be decidedly cheaper!
9) painboys should be made a hq choice - stick em with the boyz!
10) stormboyz, burna boyz and tankbustas should be given options for 'eavy armour. tankbustas should also get tank hunter special rule as it annoys me immensly that they dont have it! edit: oh yeah, and tank hammers should be S8 AP3 instead of S10 AP- - they are rokkits on a stick and should have the same profile! (a nerf perhaps as less good against tanks ofc, but its just logical!)

not to say that a load of new toyz wouldnt be awesome, but id like the army as it is to remain mostly untouched!

I agree. There's not much wrong with the ork codex. 6th edition changed the assault rules which impacted orks . Mr Kelly still gave us a fairly balanced codex so we have decent shooting units to fall back on, even if we have to drag some of you kicking and screaming!.

A standard mob of 3o boyz is still nasty in 6th.

What would I like to see down the road?

Fix for kans/dredds.
Fix for assault, cause I just feel orks should be decent at it, regardless of the BRB.
and......The return of the Red Gobbo!!

There's some old special character orks used to have w/ a grabba stick and a beard. I can't remember his name.

Orks should get dex after Tau, Eldar, Nids, and Space Marines/BT (not that they should go after all of those, just that they will.

I just want Orks to get back old FC, have a couple more sets of core stats for looted vehicles, and to get a new, solid HQ.

id like to think GW will branch out more then just space marines like make a speed freak codex or a free booter codex i could see both working out like the different marine chapters.
but as far as new stuff for orks ..... i see them eldar gits and the spacemarines have some new shiny's bits!

What I really hope if another troop type, grot heros that dont take a HQ spot but you can only have one as (EX. in previous Chaos codex the greater daemons cunted as HQ but didnt take the spot), also one weirdboy per army with retinue (already discussed).

Howabout the looted wagons that andy chambers made back, but with updates for the newer vehicles?

Auto-hitting Zzap Guns?
Save-killer Choppas back (ease the complaints about the lack of assault need in 6th edition)
Ork upgrades back like "Bionic Bonce" and the like.

Pretty much, take the current one adn the 3rd edition one and combine them. That would be nice.

Off the top of my head I want a couple things..

No furious charge...we should be strength 4, common we are orks.

Something to deal with challenges since my nobs never get to attack at that makes me sad.

painboys being an HQ or Elite and allowed to take 1-3 in one slot

And the Lootas being able to take "Beamy" guns. A more reliable long range anti-tank. Probably has something like the "Gets Hot" rule or something even more orky.

I think termies were saving on 4+ IIRC.

Another thing that i would like would be for stormboyz to be more than just boyz with jetpacks, it would be cool if they could get some more armor and MAYBE bs for extra poitns after all they are obsessed with training and practice, and have those flashy "ooniforms" of theirs. Also i agree with more squig and possibly grot squads (a strange idea painboyz enhancing Grots with metals limbs n steroids).
