I was at the FLGS last night and got to talking with a new player who just started Circle, and that's got me really wanting to play my own Circle army again. I've got about 80 points worth of Circle right now, and my favorite warlocks are Mohsar, Kromac, and Krueger. I am a bit lacking in infantry - I've got Bloodweavers, Woldstalkers, and Druids, and that's pretty much it. Shifting Stones, Mannikins, and a few solos round out the "infantry" portion of my army. As far as warbeasts go, I've got two Ferals, a Woldwarden, a Gnarlhorn Satyr, two Woldwyrds, Gorax, and the two Argus from the battlebox. ...I like warbeasts.

Anyone feel like making an argument that a Stalker is a great investment? (I realize that it is, but hearing the reasons would be awesome.)

Been while since ive delt with Circle but..

Having Sprint on a heavy with the speed he has, is always nice.

Charge a Heavy Warjack and hit it, take 2nd attack on an enemy infantry, buy 2 more attacks on warjack, last 2 fury and sprint away to safety, or sprint away enough to be in shifting stones and then teleport him for safety

He can reliably wreck a Colossal with minimal buffs (primal and a free charge). He can wade through infantry with berserk and be very fury efficient at it. Sprint is also very good for casters to get out of tight spots or to get into them. He's just pretty flexible all around. He's downright stupid good with Kromac with wild aggression on him and Warpath up.

My only beef with the Stalker is he's MAT 6. He either needs a MAT buff or boosting to hit infantry reliably.

(1) Lightning strike. the ultimate alphastrike shenanigans in an army famed for alphastriking. sprint, coupled with Kromac and eKaya is just laughably good.
(2)Reach.
(3)Huge damage output. P+S16/18 when warped, and buffed up to P+S18/20 when primal is factored in? Or Def16 P+S20/22 when you factor in eKaya's forced evolution. yeah, i've one-turned a collossal with a stalker and kromac. Enough said - he can kill anything in the game in a turn.
(4) Awesome model.

The stalker has become a modern staple of circle. It is the default heavy-hitter these days. Most circle players were quick to adopt the stalker and celebrate his hitting power as an answer to their issues with low melee damage. The animus is also drives the hit&run theme and can be very strong in general.

He pairs very well with Kromac for the animus if nothing else.

The Stalker is damn near broken. With Kromac its just stupidly good and a no brainer.

malfred - that's the plan! All my other ones are metal, so I'd like to finish out the collection with a pewter Stalker if I can.

Was in a tournament today and placed 4th with the following list:

Kromac
Feral
Feral
Pureblood

Shifting Stones
Bloodweavers
Stoneward and Woldstalkers

I'd just stalk the dark recesses of E-bay and Amazon. Check out all the local stockists of Warmachine, especially all the out of the way places. You can often find models that have sat for years on the shelves.

Get a plastic one and magnetise it. The Pureblood is also worth a shot.

Even more so now that the WoldWrath is out. That's probably his favorite little buddy along with the Gnarlhorn.

You need one if you play circle, they are amazing. I am trying to convince myself right now that i dont need a second one (I do)..

I ended up picking up a metal one - I can always grab a plastic kit later, but I wanted a pewter one before they all disappeared.

Doesn't it get up to about P+S 22? Warp Strength for 18, Primal for 20 and Forced Evolution for 22? Seems good enough reason to me.

NO, don't take a Warpwolf Stalker, just cause they end 99% of Circle games I've seen doesn't mean they are a highly functional option in the Circle army that deserves to be owned by every Circle player in the world.

-_-

I second others, "DO IT".

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Stalker arrived last week - checked all the parts, and then realized that the tail was missing. Well, crap. Already put in a ticket with PP.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

If you're playing Mohsar regularly, you'll want a unit of Bloodtrackers with Nuala. They're the perfect target unit for Mirage, and they pack one hell of a punch. You can even use them as Sands of Fate targets in a pinch.

Get a plastic one, magnetize a sword to the appropriate hand = stalker. Yes pick up a Stalker, he is fantastic in most Circle lists. Is he required? Nope. Is he stupid good with Kromac yes. I'm convinced Privateer should sell "bonus packs." IE a caster with a beast, jack, or unit who is defacto good with them...

Kromac = stalker
Butcher = berserker (just my preference really)
EButcher = Reavers
Denny = nightmare
Edenny = Banes
etc..

njpc - I'd be totally ok with that. I love Berserkers, and wish I had more than the two I currently own. I've always wanted to run a list with a ton of 'zerkers and not much else.

Denegrah1 is pretty notorious for her power to make pretty much everything in the universe good without trying very hard. Going to have to agree with above on that.

And stuff.
