Hello all,
So I ended up getting a bunch of dark vengeance sets, and I previously posted a couple lists for the chaos army I want to create from the box sets. I'm also really looking forward to the new dark angels, because like a lot of others I've been waiting a long time to start a dark angel army. So for now I ended up buying a scibor lion knight to use as belial, and I have put together a list to compete against my chaos list. I have some spare points to play with and am unsure what to take, probably some vindicators or predators depending on what you guys think. So here's my list:
HQ
Librarian 100
Troops
10 Tactical Marines w/ plasma rifle, plasma cannon, plasma pistol 200
10 Tactical Marines w/ plasma rifle, plasma cannon, plasma pistol 200
10 Tactical Marines w/ plasma rifle, plasma cannon, plasma pistol 200
Fast Attack
3 Bikers w/ 2 melta guns, melta bombs 125
3 Bikers w/ 2 melta guns, melta bombs 125
3 Bikers w/ 2 melta guns, melta bombs 125
Allies:
HQ
Belial 130
Troops
Deathwing w/ chainfist, cyclone missile launcher 240
Deathwing w/ chainfist, cyclone missile launcher 240
Total: 1685pts
So I have 315pts to mess around with, and I was thinking about putting in 2 lascannon preds and maybe putting my librarian on a bike or giving him termy armour (if so can he deepstrike with allies? Little unsure about ally rules). As of right now my game plan was to sit footslog my marines to an objective and have them sit their the majority of the game and hopefully dissuade any attackers. The bikes are my dedicated tank hunters, and will be speeding up the flanks to start popping tanks or transports. Belial will deep strike with the deathwing, and depending on what's going on in the game will either deploy deep into enemy territory or deploy close to some objectives to get those points later in the game. I'm playing against my chaos army, so I won't be facing any fliers, but the addition of some preds would help my anti-flier in case I end up against some flier spam. The only thing I am unsure about is the role of my librarian. I essentially picked him as a good, cheap HQ but I'm not sure if he would be better suited with the terminators or with the bikes, or even camping at home with the tac marines. Any suggestions would be great
Just for some comparison here is the chaos list I ended up with after some critique from dakka. I didn't end up posting it in the original thread due to life, but here it is regardless:
HQ
Sorcerer w/ 2 mastery levels, aura of dark glory 125
Elites
5 chaos terminators w/ 5 combi-plasma, 5 lightning claws, mark of khorne 212
Troops
10 CSM w/ 2 plasma guns, mark of nurgle, veterans of the long war 210
10 CSM w/ 2 plasma guns, mark of nurgle, veterans of the long war 210
10 CSM w/ 2 melta guns, melta bomb, power fist, veterans of the long war, rhino 235
10 CSM w/ 2 melta guns, melta bomb, power fist, veterans of the long war, rhino 235
Fast Attack
5 Raptors w/ 2 meltaguns, mark of slaanesh, icon of excess 150
5 Raptors w/ 2 meltaguns, mark of slaanesh, icon of excess 150
Heavy Support
Forgefiend w/ ectoplasm 200
Forgefiend w/ ectoplasm 200
Obliterator w/ veteran of the long war 73
I may end up throwing some berserkers in there just for fun but basically it is a large body count for CSM in comparison to some of the nurgle lists that seem pretty popular now. The MoN marines sit at home and camp on objectives while marines in rhinos ride into the enemy zone and try to do some damage or slow the enemy down for a few turns. The raptors and terminators will be deepstriking and trying to do lots of damage. The raptors have the icon of excess to hopefully keep them around for an extra turn to do some extra damage. I was going to take mark of nurgle but it didn't seem like it fit the raptors lol. The terminators have MoK and combi-plasma to seriously put the hurt on MEQ's. The sorcerer will probably stick with the camping marines and cast some spells to help the marines sit on those objectives. The obliterator is there because I had some extra points and was unsure about what to do with them, but I could potentially take those points and change some CSM to berserkers or something along those lines. The forgefiends are there to mow down everything, assuming I can keep them alive long enough.
So essentially I've built these two armies to play some casual games with some friends who don't have any warhammer. I use to be very competitive but realized it wasn't fun playing friends like that, and I'm generally too shy/busy to go to a game store lol. So do you guys think these armies would be reasonably matched against each other? Thanks for your time
