What is a better idea for a list centered around pure killing power in the Blood Angels Codex?

Drop pod lists are easier to deal with imo.

With the rules for Deep striking and all. You can deploy and make your opponent deploy in certain spots.

Also your army will come in broken up a bit.

All that said though I did have some success in 5th with a couple hybrid lists with 1 or 3 drop pods and rest armored assault

Hmmmm. I spose your right on the piecemeal thing. But isn't there a lot of forcing them to be cautious with a DPA?

I still run all drop pod and it's actually getting easier to play.

Seven drop pods in 1850-2000 points means you are getting 4 first turn and usually two on the second turn. If the first turn was painfull enough for your opponent then it should be fun.

Given the move to much more troops/objective winning we have the advantage of picking(mostly) where we land, contesting from the get go. Use your first wave to whittle down as many troop choices as you can and keep yours in reserve for a turn or two.

Added bonus, there has been a grandtotal of two games that I have failed to get first blood. Linebreaker is usually a given as well if someone lives. Every bit helps.

One huge drawback. Flying vehicles will become your bane. Unless you drop some dev squads for some reason you just don't have enough high strength shots to make it count.

I <3 Drop Pods.

You can essentially put them any where you want, you can control exactly what you have on the board and what you want to save for later and they provide decent cover to the unit inside.

Plus, it get's my Meltas, Flamers, Multi Meltas and Sternguard in effective range on the first turn which is good for my Vulkan lists (any list can benefit from that really).

IMO it really comes down to your playstyle. I'm a very in-your-face Alpha Strike Kind of player. If you like to have a bit more maneuverability and late-game movement, Rhinos are a good choice.

The list I'm currently running has a bit of a mix at 1750:

2 LR's w/5x TH/SS Termies (one squad w/Vulkan)

2x TAC squads in drop pods
1x Dreadnought in Drop pod

1x Dev Squad w/4x ML (sometimes change this for scouts and Telion w/Aegis defense line)

This gives me 2 pods to choose from for alpha strike. I Tend to go Dreadnought and a squad of Tacticals and save the last Tactical Squad for later objective capturing/contesting.

3 doesn't seem like much, but it's worked out fairly well thus far (have yet to play any MEQ, which will probably put the smack down on me, but we'll see). Anywhere between 3-7 is what I will run.

I would be using the BA dex for this, so no Vulkan for me. And eight or nine of the armies I usually play are MEQ

You should have most of your army down first turn like 75% of the points on the board at least with drop pods. Unless you have a plan, like delaying for stormravens.
Blood angels are excellent on the weaker pods for turn 2. They can go 5 marines inf pistol+melta or 5 marines melta+combimelta, which are nice pods but cheap and scoring.

In some ways blood angels is not about killing power. They are harder to kill if anything will FNP everywhere and hardy flyers.

I think you'll find drop pods will make you happier. First turn you decimate the enemy before being pegged back. Pods of 10 Sternguard landing in range in 5 honour guard with the terminator armour. Drop pods with dreads to me, is good but actually not really killing power. Sure blood talons will make a mess in assault but it takes a turn before that happens if that happens.

If you're hooked on the BA Dex, Razorspam is still pretty awesome. Throw in some predators, and that's a whole lot of dakka with some decent AV. Maybe a vindicator as well (If BA can take them.)

That said, drop pods are wayyyyyy more fun to play, especially if you pump them full with sternguard and use pedro kantor, but that's a C:SM-type deal.

I could do SM I suppose, I just already have the BA dex. Meh, I can borrow my friends. That being said, how do SW work out?

For C SM Pod Armies, just search for any Crimson Fist Thread, they all tend to use Pedro Kanor, Sternguard, and at least 2-3 pods, often times more

I think Drop pod assault is excellent for C:SM armies. When you tie in combat-squads, you can have 4 targets in your opponents face on turn one. That's not easy to deal with in low point games. Followed by another two on turn 2. This also allows effective "split fire" of the squad inside.

Mech is still great for BA. You can make AV:13 walls with vindicators and baal preds, followed closely by razorbacks. It's expensive to buy all those models though.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Price isn't too big an issue, I just want an army I can use alongside my DW for big games

SW do drop pods very well! Just load up on hunters with TDA WG leading them and some long fangs for fire support.

BA do get vindicators, and they are fast. I run two of them and they are totally worth it. I know that this was not the discussion of the article but it was mentioned above and thought it was worth stating
