Hey, can you add some detail about the Team format that you will be using?

Thanks

Checked with the store and it appears that I was misinformed. This tournament is not a team tournament.

Just a reminder that this is just a little over one week away. We would really like to see a high turnout and so welcome any and everyone would could come.

I'm assuming that this is escalation and not just separate lists? Any clarification possible here would be great. Thanks!

Yes its an Escalation style tournament so the list builds upon itself going from 1500 up to 1999+1 (or 2000 no double force org, whichever you prefer to read it as).

Hmm I considered this, but after reading that I cannot use the same list for all 3 rounds as the points values differ, I'll have to come by another time.

I'm confused as to your meaning. Is the escalation format the problem? If so I can make sure that the Store Organizer knows so as to not plan more. I don't particularly like the idea myself, but will still be participating. As a local though that is a special case.

The idea is that first you have to bring 3 different lists, and regardless of if it's 3 different lists or you must build on your original 1500 point list, it's not fun.

The main reason why it's not fun is you tell us, ahead of time, what the game type is and the deployment. This smacks of saying "Please tailor your lists for each match"

So if I came, I would have an infantry based drop pod army for the first game, and probably win it with a 80% + rate simply because of the mission and deployment, since I could just drop on the objective and run away with it.

For the next game, I adjust the list to simply add a deathstar to lessen the kill points I would give up.

And for the third and final, I already use thunderfire cannons, so that's covered, so I simply add 3 attack bikes with multi-meltas or another stormtalon.

Your format should be a set point value for every game, and with the missions and deployments chosen without the players knowing. This helps to ensure fairness.

I also see no info on fortifications, so unless you want people showing up with fortresses of redemption, I recommend limiting the purchases to just the aegis line.

Hmm yeah I'm a bit confused at the format as well. Seems to be a bit confusing and a bit restricting if i take allies. I would still love to come though. I'll be there

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'm also confused about how exactly escalation tournaments work.

Let's say i have three units of models in the first round. One unit of 10, and two units of 5. Could i split them into four units of 5?

Also, I can't take away any models in my earlier list going into the second and third round? I can only add models?

First round you have a 1500 points list, then second round you add 250 to that, and third you add another 230 (again no doubling). I've already said I do not like it much, but I'm not the one running it so there isn't much I can do, but give feedback to the TO. Also there is no limit on fortifications and/or allies.

Specifically @juraigamer: Major GTs also give out the missions in advance so I hardly see that being a bad thing. Sure you can then setup your list to play the missions, but I would much rather that then the alternative.

Major GT's don't force three different lists, nor do they tell you what order the missions will be in. Sure, they give the missions in advance which is a good thing, but knowing the order? That's a problem.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I'll pass on your issue to the TO.

Though I agree with you that escalation isn't ideal, you aren't correct about the mission part. Lots of major (and minor events) are completely transparent. My main issue with the last tourney I attended at End Game was actually the terrain. Playing on planet bowling ball isn't very cool.

Now this is something I can fix. I'll talk to the TO and make sure we have 6-7 sizable pieces per table.

I believe that it is not clear how tiebreaks will be done. I'm assuming there will be more than 8 people at this tournament, so there will most likely be more than one person with a winning record. How will you guys do the tiebreaker if two people have perfect records? What will be the tiebreaker if two people tie in regular VPs during a match?

We've got eight to nine locals that say their going to be there. But tie breakers is something I don't know off the top of my head. I'll send them a message immediately to find out.

@thisisnotpancho: Sorry I never got back to you, but the TO didn't answer my question till the day of.

As for the event itself we had a good turnout, ten people. Can't remember the names of the two out of towners, but thank you for coming and I hope you both had a good time. The winners were thus.

1st: Dark Eldar
2nd: Daemons of Chaos
3rd: Eldar

First and third surprised many people, especially those pesky Hellions. Since our one local-ish DE player has never used them we never knew how annoying they could be to get rid off.
