Howdy folks,

I'm building a "Dark Mechanicum" CSM army. My army list includes Typhus, which is going to represented by a warpsmith with a bigger base and some minor details. The idea is that this Warpsmith brings the plague and rot of Nurgle not on the flesh level, but on the Machine Spirit and Mechanicum level. Rust, malfunction, and flesh-meets-flesh-gone-wrong are going to be ways of representing this.

Among the troops are going to be Plague Zombies, but represented by Servitors. I'm looking for ideas on how to convert them instead of spending hundreds of dollars for the official models.

I've got an idea to use Orks /w Masks (for souped up looking servitors) or Catachans, due to their more flesh-exposing clothing, and basically because they're human shaped/sized. Once I have a good base model, adding bitz to make them look like servitors should be simple enough, but how to make them look like "Plague Zombie" Servitors? I'm not too sure yet.

Cheers in advance.

Well, if your case is to make them servitors, you don't need to really bother with the zombie part of the equation. Just make bulky, mutated and nasty looking monstrosities and see where that takes you. Using Orks for some of them is definitely a good route, but once you use an Ork head it will be pretty evident that they're just Orks. Human heads with Ork bodies, suitably converted, will look really freakish and wrong. However, for abominations of the Dark Mechanicus, that sounds just about right!

As for bits to make them more servitor-like, you'll have to do some scratchbuilding and creative bits sourcing for that. Some third party companies make cybernetic parts; that would likely be your best bet.

im doing something simmilar although not for zombies for cultists and IG allies. I am mixing in necron bits into my cultists. The legs are too long, so I am using them with my CSM while the arms and heads fit in just about right. The cultists have robes anyway so no need to worry about the legs.

I wonder if I could just use Necron models without guns.

I'll probably be doing the whole catachan/ork mix; sounds like a great idea!

Thanks guys!
