Im still drawing blanks as to what these could be after 4 years of playing Salamanders. So, could anyone give their opinions on:

The Engine of Woes
The Obsidian Chariot
The Unbound Flame
The Song of Entropy

"Of these artefacts unrecovered, only the names are known. Their size, form and location are locked within the riddles and encrypted passages of the Tome of Fire, there to be uncovered once Vulkan's prophecies come to light."

Engine of Woes and Obsidian chariot sound like ships to me while unbound flame sounds more like a weapon name, mabye a flamer( ) Song of entropy doesnt seem to bring anything to my mind though

I thought one of them was a forge ship, and another orbital defence laser or something iirc.

I think I heard somewhere that the Obsidian Chariot is a super awesome Land Raider.

It that was true...I would crap bricks.. I believe Salamanders should get a codex for themselves, they stray from the codex astartes in many ways. But then agian, more for the fact that i love everything about them.

I 2nd a Codex because they are one of the most over looked chapters in 40k.

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

They are very overlooked indeed...

I mean they differ in many ways from the codex astartes:
-7 companies
-120 men in each comany
-60 scouts
-forgefather
-promethean cult (high emphasis on self reliance, endurance, comradership, preservation of human life)
-extremely well maintained equipment due to every Salamander maintianing his own wargear
-Technological marvels due to techmarines having time to build other than repair armor and guns
-Nocturne is a freaking death world
-Marines actually have contact with their families and friends from before recruitment
-Primarch is still alive!
-Possible sweet special units (ie, obsidian chariot being a pimp land raider) (Bray'arth Ashmantle)
-lack of fast units because of defensive tactics

The unbound flame is explained in the salamander novel series. Its an incredibly powerful psyker that cannon contain his inner fire and essentially becomes a giant self destructive fire ball that saves Nocturne from the dragon warriors.

These aren't unique to the salamanders and aren't affected by the codex astartes

Trazyen's fluff in the Necron codex.

Really? I need to go read that again, I must have missed the part about an imprisoned Primarch.

The description is a giant in baroque power armour, theoretically it could be Vulkan or any other surviving primarch or just some chump marine from WAY back that happened to be really big.

I believe Salamanders had their own list along with Black Templars in the Codex Armageddon.

If Templars made the jump to full book and Salamanders didn't, I am gonna have to assume that they likely had good reasons to moth-ball the Salamanders-unique army list.

They are literally the only Chapter that once had a list and got scrapped again.

Was it? ARGH!

The Song of Entropy kinda sounds like an engineered disease. Maybe a techno-virus. I sorta thought the Obsidian Chariot would be a thunderhawk or some other airplane.

I've yet to read the third Salamanders novel, but I have read the first and second, I don't remember a reference to the unbound flame? Or is it mentioned in the third book?

Codex: Armaggedon was written before a large chunk of the Salamanders fluff was established if I recall correctly. I don't see it as a valid attempt to create a Codex with what was given to them in that book. There's so much more about them now.
