So I'm remodeling all of my CSM, and I want to model them with all their wargear and whatnot. The problem I've come across is modeling the Bolter on units with a pistol & cc weapon. The Bolter looks too clunky and in the way on their hip, but I can't figure where else to put it.

Has anyone else has this problem and figured out a way around it, our have any suggestions in general?

I've been in a similar situation withmy wolf guard/grey hunters and have found the backpack to be the best mounting point for bolters:

what i do with my chaos is have a boltgun held one handed bolt pistol style by replacing the pistols on the arms with boltguns and using the pistol holster to show they have a pistol

I prefer to work with bolters and CCW and glue on holsters with pistols than the other way around. Bolters on the backpack, as displayed above, work as well.

I out with in both 40k and WHFB.

I have a squad with both bolters and CCW/boltpistols and then I twll my opponent these guys have both

that way if I wanted to, I could just run them one way or the other as well (you have the option in the nenw codex, and if points were tight you could just run one way)

The new character backpacks for the DV and aspiring champ are nice, but I can buy a whole unit of guys for the price of one character, so I probably won't be buying any more of those.

Are they not supposed to have magnetic clamps on them for carrying around larger weapons. In that case, jsut stick them to a leg or the backpack. Even their bum, perhaps?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I kinda like the backpack look. I'll have to try a few things and see what I like best.

@buckaro0
I haven't gotten the new codex yet, do they no longer come standard with both?

@Flinty
I tried positioning on the leg/hip area, but it just looks too cumbersome. I might even end up trimming the backpacks some to make sort of a gun"nook" on their back.
