Okay, I bought the space marine half of an AOBR, and while I have to agree with the description they are well painted. The problem is they were painted metallic gold. Now the dreadnought and Captain look fine I think I'll leave those alone, but on the tactical squad and terminators it looks like the bases were over-sprayed, or he tried some sort of flock texture on them.... AKA, something that doesn't really work with the Dark Angels I currently have painted.

So just as I asked in the subject, whats the best project for stripping the existing paint off the models, and what sort of techniques would you recommend?

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Here is a bit of info for you...

* for plastic minis, try simple green. its a cleaning product, and you can get it at most home improvement stores.
* if they have really good primer on them, try "super clean" or "purple power" they are stronger, and mildly irritating to the skin, but work better than simple green.

Technique? Soak them for a few days, then rub the stuff off with an old toothbrush. Rinse repeat. I use a metal wire brush for really determiend primer.

Note: always try a test mini first.

NOTE:
This question is asked a lot.
As in very frequently (not as frequent as "what kind of airbrush should I Buy, but quite a lot).
Try ;
* The search.
* just scrolling through the pages.

You will find a lot more info, and perspectives from a lot of people.

Best of luck!

Dawn Power dissolver. It goes a long way and strips most minis in HOURS. I've taken of layers and layers of krud from army painter dip, minwax, sealer (cheap and expensive), and all kinds of primer with this stuff. It is way less offensive odor wise and it won't destroy your hands. Amazing stuff and available at virtually any big box store.
