I've decided to add on an Eldar attachment for my Tau just for fun.
My plan is to model an exodite army that has joined Tau to survive from the myriad threats of the universe. For my Tau army, I typically run HH w/ Railguns, FW, and lots of BS. Here's what I was thinking for my Eldar detachment.
HQ:
I'm debating between an Autarch and a Farseer.
Elites:
Harlequins- modeled as is
Wraithguard- modeled with Dyrads. Having trouble figuring out how to work in the guns.
Troops:
Rangers: guardians kitbashed with wood elves
Fast Attack:
Either Hawks (with real wings grown on), Warp Spiders (no clue how to model exodite versions), or Shining Spears (maybe riding birds/ the flying dinosaurs from the Lizardmen)
Heavy:
Wraithlord- Based off either an ent from LotR or a Wood Elf Treeman (though the price is insane). Also having problems with the guns
Dark Reapers: No ideas how to exodite them either

I picked these units mostly because of fluff. If anyone has suggestions on modeling or gaming, I'd really appreciate it.

Every Exodite army I've ever seen uses Lizardmen parts, since Exodites are supposed to ride their planets' native 'dragons' into battle, I'm not sure where the fluff supports Wood Elvish Exodites. There's an example of a pretty good one on The Jungle (http://www.fightingtigersofveda.com/orcboy5.html, unfortunately without many pictures); Rangers and Harlequins could be used mostly as-is (if you really wanted to try and build a sniper rifle from scratch you could make them out of Wood Elf parts, I suppose), you could come up with a slow-looking dinosaur and mount a Guardian with the gun on him for a Wraithguard (the Lizardmen Salamander looks promising), Wraithlord could be a Stegadon with riders with the guns, and Shining Spears on Terradons would be very in-character for Exodites. I'm not sure where to go with Dark Reapers either, I suppose you could use them as-is and declare that they're actual Dark Reapers who have showed up to help, but that seems like a bit of a cop-out.

Thanks for your help AnomanderRake. To answer your question:
I chose Wood Elves because my train of thought (maybe I'm completely off) is that the Eldar would take the wraithbone from their ships and integrate it onto the planet. Thus the blend between the wraithbone and the trees, which leads to using the new "wraithwood" as material. Since this kind of sounded like the whole wood elf idea (sing to the trees aka craft everything out of wood through magic), i was going to use wood elf parts. Though I see how blending in lizardmen stuff would be interesting. I was just worried about the size difference (since wood elves are a lot closer body wise to Eldar than Lizardmen).

And I agree with you about the dark reapers. I'm gonna be spending a lot of time on this army. Idw to cop out on one unit and then regret it every time I look at the unit.

...You know, Dryads painted to look like wraithbone could actually be really, really cool. Go for it.

I've seen quite a few armies converted this way, it looks great !
But i would recommend making the troops count as Avengers instead ! Unless you are going for storm guardians, which I don't see working very well wi!th tau.

cheers !

This sounds awesome, I'm really looking forward to see some pic's of your first converstions/painted minis

And, yes, the idea of wraith bone dryads for wraithguards is pretty neat.

@taudau- the process wont start until Christmas, unfortunately. But i'll be sure to post them once I start working on everything.

@mayfist- why the Avengers?

Also, any suggestions on modeling the dryads with guns? I was thinking maybe painting them like the energy is shooting out of their "fingers". But I'd like to try to have an actual gun incorporated, other than just putting a gun in their hands.

You could try shoulder mounts, or if you're handy with greenstuff, you could go tyrannic style, with the guns fused to the hands. Wraithbone is already very organic looking, and looking at the models it looks fairly easily doable.

I had also thought of doing an exodite army using dryads and treemen for the wraithguard/lords. For jet bikes/shining spears I was thinking of using cold ones with a wood elf/guardian kit bash.

Well to be honest they are much better than guardians as a troop choice.
But that's is irrelvant, because I was tired and misread your OP. For some reason "Rangers: guardians kitbashed with wood elves" became "Guardians: guardians kitbashed with wood elves".

Please proceed sir, you're all good !
