Hello all, my Rebel
IG have gotten to the point where they have diverged from my other armies to the point where they deserve a blog of their own. this blog will follow all five armies that make up my rebels. the blog will be organized into four acts each following a different army, with the final act following two armies.
the fluff will follow Inquisitor Laskey through the Ascension War and to its conclusion. if you would like to catch up on the fluff that led up to this point
you can find it here now it's time to begin:
“listen up class!” instructor Duncan called his advanced command class to order. “you have been sent to this academy to not only become skilled inqusitors, but also to be well versed in battlefield tactics. I know some of you may be a bit distracted by the upcoming break, but today’s class is important. The regime has been getting a bit antsy over the past couple of weeks, and as you know if war breaks out you will all be called to active duty.” He walked over to the desk of cadet Lasky, who was asleep. He raised his hand and smacked the back of Lasky’s head. Lasky bolted up and checked his surroundings. “do you find my class boring Cadet Lasky?”
“sir, no sir!” Lasky barked.
“then please don’t fall asleep in it.” Duncan returned to the center of the room and activated the holo display. “today we are reviewing the forces available to a Rapid Armored Assault Unit.”
“class this is the mainstay of a Rapid Armored Assault Unit: the regulars. They are well trained and skilled in combat. They come in units of ten with a Black Hand commanding them. Generally they are armed with six lasguns, three meltaguns, and one shotgun. In a Rapid Armored Assault unit they will be traveling in Reckoner class chimeras.”
“please note that we are currently upgrading our fleet with bigger tracks and wheels after we got some complaints of problems with rough terrain.” The holo image shifted.
“Rapid Armored Assault units also have available to them a platoon of Militants. They will ride in the crawler and provide support for the rest of the unit.” The image shifted again.
“this is one of our scorpion class leman russ tanks. They are built to traverse rough terrain, but they provide heavy firepower for the unit. Each unit will have three of them.”
“this brings us to the final part of this lecture. The mantis pattern hydra, these provide additional anti air support for units moving farther than the crawler’s effective range.”
One of the students raised her hand and Duncan acknowledged her. “what about the crawlers?”
“yes what about the crawlers.” He responded. “in fact you will be piloting them today, right now. Strap your hard-suit on, because you’re all going out into the wastes.”
The next thing Cadet Laskey remembered he was laying in an infirmary bed, and he couldn’t feel his hands or feet. He opened his eyes and through his blurry vision he could make out the distinctive outline of headmaster Slavic. “oh no, I’m in trouble aren’t I?” he groaned.
“on the contrary.” The headmaster said. “I take it you don’t remember your little bit of heroics?”
“I think you’ve got the wrong cadet sir.”
“really? then I guess it was a different Cadet Laskey that sent a warning to the city that it was about to be attacked by a major regime offensive?” he turned away from the cadet. “sir, he’s awake.” Another figure approached Lasky’s bed and pulled up a seat.
“do you know who I am?” the figure asked.
Lasky rubbed his eyes, his hands felt strange on his face, cold. With his vision cleared he instantly knew who the figure was. “you’re lord Medvedev!” he saluted him as best he could.
“at ease. In fact I think I should be the one saluting you. because you just saved the revolution with your little warning.”
“sir?”
“the regime has taken every city except
St. Thorinsberg. Without your intervention they would have taken it.” he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black box. “that is why myself, inquisitor Dostoyevsky and inquisitor Alexander have chosen to present you with your rossorus. Congratulations, Inquisitor Laskey. Now you’ve been assigned to the 32nd armored assault unit, I know you will take good care of them.” Laskey was stunned, the 32nd was Medvedev’s personal unit “the bear’s fist” they had fought in every major battle of the revolution. If he was entrusting them to him he could not allow himself to fail. “now get some sleep, you leave for your unit tomorrow.”
