Has anyone seen or heard of minatures based off of anime? I'm trying to find some but can't seem to have any success.

A particular anime, or generally "anime" style models?

There's Anima Tactics. And the chibi-style Super Dungeon Explore.

Or the larger garage kits, like the type you'd get from E2046.

I'm biased but I think Infinity is VERY Anime. Especially inspired by Appleseed, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell.

If I could find a mini of the main male character of Appleseed whos name escapes me that'd be AWESOME.

Well this all started because I was hoping to find miniatures from the anime/manga Claymore. But I started thinking it'd be fun to collect minis from other anime I like if I can find them.

Poke around in the Infinity Catalog - they are likely the closest you will find (for Appleseed).

For Claymore - Anima Tactics has a big selection of fantasy type anime figures (and some which would enter the near past and what not).

Also, believe it or not - there are Japanese miniature manufacturers. The scales used over there tend to be more along actual scale sizes as opposed to the wonky "28 mm" or "32 mm" used in the English speaking regions of the world.

You are confused on what I mean.

They have models which are as small and smaller...larger too (both finescale and gaming/toy detail) - however, they will normally be built to a scale (unless you are dealing with chibi figures). For example (just a quick one off the top of my links) you have this one:

http://www.aurora-model.jp/

The gaming figures are done to 1/48 scale. They are about the same size as a lot of 32mm figures - but are actually done to a real scale (1/48 of real sized) as opposed to some arbitrary and generally inconsistent sizing scheme. A lot of the best ones are garage kit makers and sell primarily through shows - so tracking them down can be a PITA, but there are some handy links from SOLO's website that will get you into the Japanese gaming movements community pages. From there, you can find more information.
