just wanted some help with deciding from where my IG regiment would be from. I am not up too much on the different planets and uniforms. I know the basics like praetoria, mordian, cadia, catachan, etc.

I am using the cadian models but i painted them with dark grey pants with a gold stripe, red shirts, white belts and pouches, and green armour. Any suggestions from where they can come from? I will be facing mostly tau. There are some who use tyranids and chaos if that matters. I was just looking for a suitable background for my unit, but was unsure where i should start.

Looking in the 5th edition book i scoped out Pavonis but was not too sure what their uniforms were like. Any suggestions would be great.

You could always make up a name... I don't think that some of the named planets have specified uniforms or fluff of any kind, they're just kind of there to inspire new IG armies.

Damocles Gulf crusade regiments could work. Look that up maybe?
All the same, you could make it up yourself. Not all regiments that use Cadian Uniforms come from cadia. The cadian gear tends to be the standard gear used by most of the Imperial Military.

Some moridian colonists perhaps the more dressy colors make me think that

or a colonial PDF recently pressed into service, kinda like the indian or african british regiments, it could be a handsome paint scheme with good color selection.
