Just looking at the vanilla marines I have to disagree. What is suggested (battleforce + terminator box) doe not even make for a legal starting army.

I'm not sure what the exchange rate is with USD and GBP, but rather then a $50 box of terminators, I'd go with a $16 librarian and a $35 dev box. If there is some slack in the budget, a jump chaplain would be a good HQ, but is a litte more expensive.

And none of that helps the fact that bolters are probably the worst weapon option for scouts.

imo the best bet for a relatively cheap starter army is a battleforce + a HQ unit. It's not the best option, but is the cheapest and you save $20-30 on most battleforces then spend that on the HQ.

The blog doesnt make you an army but a good core to build later an army

Some good stuff, however some of it seems awfully specific, it should be made more general, for example for Dark Eldar it could say, Battleforce+Box of Troops/Raider+Succubus, Archon, Haemonculi, its the same cost with more options so a reader doesn't feel so railroaded. Poorly-formatted, tends to give you illegal or unplayable lists, and is actually wrong in a lot of places. No, Farseers and Warlocks do not share the same model, and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone with experience playing as or against Eldar who wouldn't be confused by that.
