Subject: Sigvald, Slaneesh, and Bretonnians!

I have been wanting to start a small Bretonnian warband for a long time now, and I finally got my hands on some knights to build.
However, I didn't want to just a run of the mill Bretonnian army, no I wanted to make my warband unique. I had trouble thinking of something I could do uniquely while still using the Bretonnians models.
Then, I was prowling about the GW website when I came across the Sigvald the Magnificent model in the WoC page. I was kind of surprised to find him there, because he was several lacking in the spikey bits department. Intrigued, I read more about him, and looked at his model more. I really love the way that it stands out from the chaos range so much. I have also wanted to do a Slaneesh based force for a while, I think it would be very cool to explore Slaneesh as more than just "BDSM and sex."
So I will be taking the Sigvald model and mounting him, using him as my Lord for my Bretonnians (which are going to be Knights only). My Bretonnians will still use the Bretonnian army book and models by the way (except Sigvald of course - although he will be riding a Bret steed). The fluff for my warband is that they were a crusade questing to destroy a Slaneeshi cult. In their quest, though, they had to seek perfection in their every action, because if they didn't the Slaneesh worshippers would exploit even the most miniscule of errors. Eventually the Crusade succeeded, and eradicated the cultist, but it was too late, because on their path to victory they had been slowly corrupted all along. Slaneesh had been subtly influencing them as they strove for perfection, until they finally "achieved" it and destroyed the cult. That was when they realized that they had become devoted to Slaneesh itself, because their pursuit of perfection was in fact a pursuit of excess all along. Now they wander the Warhammer World, driven by their master in an everlasting quest for perfection in everything they do and glory to Slaneesh's excess.
That's the first time I've tried writing fluff, and it was off the top of my head so please pardon me if it isn't very refined yet! Still, I really like the idea of exploring the facet of excess with Slaneesh in something other than the obvious pleasure/sex/torture, but in something more subtle and unexpected, like the perfection my knights seek.
So, what do y'all think? I'd really appreciate any comments or advice on my fluff. Also, modelling wise if anyone has done something similar before any examples would be great. I was thinking of just taking the regular Bret Knights but painting them in a variety of pink/purple/silver/gold's and using heraldry mixed with Marks of Slaneesh, but if anyone has any ideas on how I could make them even more distinctively Slaneesh that would be awesome!
Thanks for reading!

I really like it! Very unique, but also quite obvious when you think about it. The haughty Knights of Bretonnia make very keen targets for the Dark Prince. I like the story of their fall from grace, very dramatic and a perfect way to illustrate humanity's weakness/vulnerability to Chaos.
Keep working on this and keep dakka updated and I'll keep reading about it.

Thanks for the support! I thought they would fit in well that way too. I'm going to be hammering out the details of the story later, and also as I fight with the army (my FLGS is starting an escalation league, which is the perfect chance for me to build this army up with some real background). I really like how they were trying so hard to do good and ended up becoming chaos themselves... put on hipster glasses and enjoy the irony
Also, I know I want to use the Sigvald model, but I don't plan on using it as Sigvald himself, so I'll need to come up with a story for my lord.

I like the background you've written up for your army, an interesting way for them to unwittingly fall to Slaanesh.
Not sure how adept you are with GS but that cloak will take some work to make it look right after you hack him in half. Which legs were you planning on using for your converted lord?

Never actually used green stuff before.... I'm planning on getting the cloak out to the same side its going right now so I'm hoping to be able to keep most of it. And for the legs I was just going to rotate each of them out ward 90degrees so his toes point away from the horse like he's bareback, and I'll probably use a regular horseman's thighs/greenstuff where they meet the torso, and the left leg should be covered mainly by the shield at least.
And thanks for the comment about the fluff!
