...so, what are the paint stripping methods available to people of the UK. I have some Games Workshop plastic miniatures and some of the Forge World resin minatures to strip and I don't really know of any methods out there, anybody help a fellow gamer out?

Perfect. Brown detol is it then. Cheers for that stefanbrill.
Anybody know of any methods you can use to strip FW resin, or is that not possible because it's resin?

It costs a fortune and you need to leave it to sit for at least 24-48 hours. Then you need to scrub it off with even more dettol. And on top of that, if you've any PVA on the miniature or it's base, the dettol will turn it into a horrible sticky goop and make one hell of a mess.
Fairy Power spray is better. Give it a few sprays and leave the miniature for a couple of hours. Then scrub with a toothbrush and rinse the miniature with warm water from the tap. However, the longer you leave it to sit, the less scrubbing is required. Leave it for a few days and you can simply rub the paint off with your fingernails.
It will not remove enamel-based primers though, such as spray-paint but it does a wonderful job of weakening superglue. So much so that you simply pick the miniatures apart with some gentle pressure after as little as about fifteen minutes.
Even better, you don't need to steep the miniatures. A few sprays per miniature is all you need.

Hmm, I seem to have been told differently. Not about the Fairy Power spray but about Brown Detol. Somebody was even nice enough to PM me and give me a detailed run-through of what to do. From what I can gather it's relatively cheap, not cheap but I guess you know what I mean. Thanks anyway, this is another way.

Always had good results with dettol, even on the more stubborn stuff, but then I do tend to do large batches in one go and leave them under the sink where they get forgotten for weeks...
If you do go down the dettol route I advise caution with the FW resin stuff. Stripped a couple of Finecast figs and it softened and warped them badly (pause for "what even more warped than normal?" jests); I get the feeling that the resin FW uses is different from Finecast? But I'd still advise some caution.
Works on white metal, plastic, resin and Vinyl without damaging the model, even left vinyl in it for about a month without damage. But paint is gone. I made the mistake of trying to clean my garage door with it neat out of the spray, by the time I'd sprayed down to the bottom of the door, you could see the marks where the neat spray had discouloured the paint and caused it to bubble. Good job I was cleaning it ready to re-paint it anyway! Since then I've used it to clean a 1:1 scale resin replica of a pulse pistol from Farscape that had been painted with car paint, and that came up a treat too - so don't let your kids use it or you may find you've got to get your car re-sprayed!
And I use an old head on my Oral B electric toothbrush, so the paint comes off in seconds and I geet in all the crevices so there is no paint build-up at all. Easiest way of removing old paint I've ever seen.

Just tried the Dettol last night for the first time; I only had the models in for an hour or two and the paint came straight off, down to the undercoat. I then tried some over night, to see if it made any difference, seems to be no more effective.
However it has left a slightly tacky residue, can any one advise on the best way to remove it? thinking of trying soap and water.

So long as you've stripped off all of the paint you can scrub off the tack with a toothbrush, water and washing up liquid. Make sure all the paint's stripped off first, though, I can't stress that enough. Not sure about the undercoat situation, depends on the type of undercoat you used.

Somebody on a group I am part of on facebook commented to my question (I also posted it there) as to dissasembling models assembled with GW super glue (yes in my other thread, sorry, just thought I'd mention here where it seems it is viewed more) and said why not try superglue release or releaser, would that work? Also, seeing as FW resin is a better cast of resin wouldn't it be stronger and more resistant, as in not suffer where Finecast does?

I can now wholeheartedly endorse Fairy Power Spray. Some figures that had sat in Dettol for over a year that hadn't properly stripped, and stank, have been cured! Stripped, cleaned, smelling better and ready to go in under an hour of spraying and soaking in a jar. Awesome stuff.

If you leave it long enough, yes. However, I believe that freezing/thawing cycles will make the glue brittle and could cause it to part much quicker.

Power Spray broke down the superglue on mine, give it a whirl.

I don't think we have this 'Fairy Power Spray' in Malaysia (I might be wrong though). So what exactly is this Spray? Can I get an equivalent where I'm from?
Nevertheless, I'm about to try the Dettol method tonight........ wish me luck!

Fairy Power Spray works on Forgeworld resin, or at least it used to. I used it on my Keeper of Secrets and it came off beautifully. However, this is from several years ago so they may have changed the formula considering the recent Finecast shenanigans.
Also, Fairy Power Spray just smells a lot better than Dettol, and the smell isn't quite as pervasive and difficult to get rid of. And then there's that having to wash it off with more Dettol because if you use water, it turns into a clumpy horrible mess.
If anything, Dettol smells horrid, but it works out fine. A bit messy when you have to lightly brush out the paint sediments but besides that, it worked out OK I guess....

Note to dominiquekee:
Fairy Power Spray works (it's a powerfull kitchen cleaner) but Cif Power Spray is a lot less effective.
