Hi all.
Picked up a Cygnar battle box a while back as I thought they looked cool. May actually get a chance to play this weekend so got my arse in gear and started painting.

Pretty standard but I hope to get my imagination going as I move on. If the blue lighting on the sword looks a bit gash. That"s because it is. It got smudged when the matt coat went on a little thick and I tried to soak the excess off. Will have the other two up soon.
I'm kind of thinking of getting each faction battle box

Any C&C is welcome

cheers vim

I am so very jealous of the skin on Stryker. No matter how much I practice or try and follow a tutorial, it always comes out rubbish. Well done.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

This explains exactly what I am feeling as well. A very nice job on that!

For the skin I used,
1. Bleached Bone with a little red in it. I used a subdued red but can’t remember the name right now. Water this down to the consistency of milk.
2. Paint the whites of the eyes with skull white.
3. Wash with light brown ink.
4. Redo step 1 on the raised areas up to pure Bleached Bone.
5. Lightly glaze the lips with the original mix.

This is pretty much it. If I had done the job properly I would have also painted in stubble with extremely watered down dark grey.
Hope this helps.

Cheers Vim

And then there were three.

I didn't mention before but I have magnetized everything that can be destroyed. I'm getting old and I tend to forget things during a game

While the skin is nice, Im more impressed with the bronze on the warjack, that looks so good.

Ok. Finished. Just in time for the game tomorrow.

@hotsauceman1: The bronze is just two thin layers of Balthasar Gold over a black undercoat with two washes of Agrax Earthshade then a matt coat when the entire model is done

And a group shot

Thanks for all the feedback.

Cheers Vim

That is a very nice looking battlebox. Please post a thread on how the games went over the weekend.

The blues and metals are a little flat for my taste, but Stryker's skin, pants, hair and your bases are absolutely perfect.

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

Excellent painting on what I consider terrible sculpts. Still, good work.

Squigsquasher, resident ban magnet, White Knight, and general fethwit.

Thanks for the crit guys.
Alas the game did not go over the weekend. Played Zombies!!! Instead. Still had fun painting though
I am a little underwhelmed with my blue as well. I think it may be due to this group being the first real blending I have done since my 2nd ed BloodAngels many moons ago. I was far too conservative with the contrast. Will up it on the next box I think.
Although I like the artistic style of Warmachine, I agree these sculpts are pish poor in a technical sense. The boilers do not fit properly and unless you peg or magnetize(as I did) you will be re-gluing the heads and arms every five minutes. I hope things are better for the newer sculpts.
