My friend this is how drop pod and scattering works. Is it correct?
"they do scatter onto difficult terran and take a mishap test. the drop pod only lets you scatter around impassible terrain."
I thought it was you scattered but once you get close to terrain and units, you stop.

If the drop pod scatters off the table, it mishaps.
If the drop pod scatters within 1 inch of enemies, onto impassable, or onto allied units, it moves the shortest distance to a valid deep strike location from where it landed via the scatter dice.
Important to note: if you roll a hit, yet are on top of allies, within an inch of enemies or with part of the model off the board, it auto mishaps as it cannot reduce the scatter if there was no scatter.

What about if it's just normal non impassable terrain? Like a hill or forest?

Then it lands there as normal, albeit with a Dangerous Terrain Test.

Landing in/on dangerous terrain does not cause a mishap.
Off the table or impassible terrain does (models count as the later).

It is a common misconception that difficult or dangerous terrain causes a mishap; it doesnt
