Alright just bought a bunch of Ork vehicles that I want to build and magnetize but I have no idea what size magnets I want to buy for them, could someone help me out, below is a list of the models that I will be magnetizing. Thank you in advance for any and all help.

Well it all depends on what, specifically, you will be magnetizing and what material the parts are made out of. Here is a website where i buy mine (hobby town sells magnets for relatively good prices too if you have one in your area.)

Take a look at D201. They work relatively well on my guard tanks.

My real question is, what size magnets should I buy? If I need to buy multiple sizes for vehicles made of all plastic, what sizes are they? And how many of each should I really have on hand?

Its not really a question anyone can answer without knowing exactly what parts you are trying to magnetize. Supa shootas? boarding planks? wrecking balls?

I really want to magnetize all the weapons for these kits so that I can switch out depending on what I am feeling that day. Going to leave all the other stuff alone.

The best i can say then is this. you should measure the size of the area on the weapons where you will be attatching the magnets. then look at the magnet sizes provided on the website i linked earlier. i would not go with anything smaller than 1/16 thickness, the width is up to you. if it is a metal piece you will want the largest magnet that will fit and still be concealed. the plastic pieces are a bit easier as they are not as much wieght. if you are going to be putting large and small pieces on the same magnet IE swapping out smaller weapons for larger ones off the same magnet attatched to the vehicle i would go with a large size, make it flush and paint the magnet, this will not hurt the magnetic properties but you might have to touch it up every once in a while. this will provide a large space for the magnets to attatch to and youw ill be able to use numerous options.

For individual weapons, magnets that are about 3mm wide (either square or round) work fine. Personally I prefer 3x3x0.5mm square magnets because they are easy to surface mount, rather than having to do any drilling to recess the magnet.

The following use the square magnets:

On the pic above, you can just see the magnets meeting at the leading edge of the AC mount.

You can also use the small magnets to position larger pieces on a flat surface where gravity will largely keep them in place. For gexample, my Hudra turret. The magnets would never be able to support this thing against gravity, but they are enough to keep it in place and make it easy to position, compared to, say, a pinned arrangement where you need to get the pin in a small hole:

For larger pieces you need larger magnets. For example, the following both use 8mm diameter 0.5mm thick round magnets to keep the engines/wings in place:

On the latter the single magnets aren't quite up to the task, so I've added some additional contilevered supports, but then the stormraven engines are actually quite heavy and the magnet is quite small. I may need to make more modiiations later.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Found this a while ago, and it helped me out,

http://www.miniwargaming.com/magnet-guide#Space%20Marines

Its from mini wargaming site, and lists sizes for magnets for different races in 40k.

I primarily use 3/16" diameter (1/8" thick) round magnets (grade N42, also purchased from K&J), recessed. They're small and strong enough for most bits and I can simply mount several on larger, heavier parts. I find that preferable to working with a bunch of different sizes - it sometimes takes a bit more planning, but they're easier to conceal and allow me to replace stock pins and sockets to maintain full mobility of parts (e.g. my Predator sponson weapons can pivot up and down, as well as rotate, since I left the dangling arm intact and replaced the both pin at the end and the sockets inside the weapons with magnets). At least, for most tasks. If I'm mounting arm weapons on a titan, I'll use beefier magnets before I install half a dozen smaller ones.
